Repost from @citybrampton "The City of #Brampton proclaims April 14 to April 20 as Plant-Based Food Awareness Week!

A plant-based diet, filled with fruits, veggies and whole foods can boost your health and help prevent disease, while also being good for the planet.

We’re proud to stand with 37 cities around the world in supporting the @plantbasedtreaty calling for sustainable food systems to be part of global climate action.

In partnership with @pbtbrampton, we invite you to explore how simple plant-based choices can make a big impact for your health, our environment and our community.

REPOST from Councillor @navjitkaur.brar
"Today Brampton City Council ratified a motion to endorse the Plant Based Treaty and became the first city in Ontario to do so. Councillor Toor and I met with representatives of the plant based treaty group and learned about the impact of the food industry on our environment. We then brought this motion forward to encourage the city of Brampton to endorse this treaty so we can better serve the needs of our diverse community and work to a better future as well.

Considering plant based, locally sourced and sustainable food procurement options for city events, facilities should be a key part of our city’s climate plan. Spreading awareness of plant-based food options within the city of Brampton and encouraging our residents to explore plant-based food and drink options is also an important aspect of this commitment as well can use this opportunity to support local businesses and vendors as well. We encourage everyone to consider a plant based approach in their daily lives and we hope to spread awareness about plant based options and how they should be a significant part of our climate action plan." taken in Brampton by @pbtbrampton

BEA presented a dynamic, workshop on recycling, waste management, composting, The Plant Based Treaty and the One Planet Pledge to help the region of Peel reach its waste diversion targets.

In addition, we had two delightful and interactive activities. The first one was a fun ( and competitive) “Waste Sorting” activity where attendees were divided into teams. Each team raced against the clock to sort waste items into their correct categories! The second activity was a seed planting & upcycled pot decorating activity

Thank you @bramptonea @plantbasedtreaty @plantbasedfortheearth for this great collaboration. taken in Brampton ,Ontario,Canada by @pbtbrampton
