🏆🌎 NATIONAL RECOGNITION. A LEGACY BUILT TOGETHER.

Our 2026 AAG Award for Community College Program Excellence is now proudly hanging in E220 at Pasadena City College!

This national recognition from the American Association of Geographers celebrates the excellence of the PCC Geography Program, and we couldn’t be prouder of what it represents.

Behind this achievement is our incredible PCC Geography Dream Team: Dr. Hector Agredano, Dr. Nikita Prajapati, Dr. Rhea Presiado, and Dr. Brennan Wallace. But this award really belongs to ALL of our PCC Geography students! 🎓

To every student who has taken a geography course, explored the world through GIS, conducted field research, presented at a conference, or helped build our geography community: this recognition is yours, too!

We are also deeply grateful to the American Association of Geographers (AAG), the Association of Pacific Coast Geographers (APCG), and the Los Angeles Geographical Society (LAGS), the Natural Sciences Division & Geoscience Department for their continued support of geography, our students, and our community.

Come visit us in E220 and see a little piece of our growing legacy! 🌍✨ taken in Pasadena City College by @pcc_geography

🌿🥾Our PCC Geography students recently stepped outside the classroom for a field trip exploring the Lower Arroyo Seco! 📍

Students had the opportunity to observe and investigate the landscape firsthand—connecting geographic concepts to the physical environment, human use, and the relationships between people and place. 🌳🪨

There’s no better way to learn geography than by getting out into the field and seeing it for yourself! taken in Lower Arroyo Park by @pcc_geography

Field trip with Biogeographer Dr. Presiado to the see first ever confirmed Olive Ridley sea turtle nests on the US West Coast. 🌊

This is an amazing example of species possibly expanding their ranges northward. Global warming and El Niño are likely both drivers of these beaches becoming nesting habitat. 🌎

These nests are well signed- but on busy beaches. Interested to see how many hatchlings survive. Geography is everywhere - get outside and take a look 👀. by @pcc_geography

🌎 PCC Geography Instructor Social!

Our PCC Geography instructors gathered to reconnect, celebrate, and welcome the start of another academic year. 🎉📚

Dr. Nikita Prajapati, Dr. Brennan Wallace, and Dr. Rhea Presiado were there to celebrate—and while we missed our fabulous geography colleague Dr. Hector Agredano, who is currently on sabbatical, we’re excited for all that this new semester has in store!

This get-together is a PCC Geography tradition dating back to 2009—a chance to step away from the classroom, strengthen our connections, and celebrate the people who make our program so special. ❤️🌍 taken in Teddy’s Tacos by @pcc_geography
