This Polo GT is packing a punch now! With a few stealthy modifications it has been upgraded from the factory 130bhp & 310nm to 𝟮𝟱𝟲𝗯𝗵𝗽 & 𝟱𝟭𝟱𝗻𝗺 - that’s a gain of 𝟭𝟮𝟲𝗯𝗵𝗽 & 𝟮𝟬𝟱𝗻𝗺!

Upgrades include:
- JW Automotive GT1856 gen3 hybrid turbocharger
- JW Automotive SeatSport style FMIC and hardpipe kit
- PD Tuning 6PUK clutch kit (it did have an “upgraded” clutch before but it immediately slipped during tuning sadly)
- Ported inlet manifold
- PD150 headbolts
- 2.5” exhaust system
- 4bar MAP sensor
- AEM Dryflow air filter

This is by far the best bang for your buck bolt-on setup on a PD. Everyone who says “1856’s are rubbish get a 2260” has clearly never had a healthy well setup GT1856 car, they’re brilliant fun and still great to daily drive.

𝟭.𝟴𝗧 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗯𝗹𝗲𝗺𝘀… 🤦🏼‍♂️

Sometimes I book in a 1.8T just to remind me why I don’t usually book in 1.8T’s - this one certainly helped to jog my memory! 😆

The car arrived with no lambda sensors fitted (yes you did read that correctly) and some huge leaks from the intake/breather system.

All good in the end though! Leaks fixed and a new lambda sensor supplied and fitted and the car was tuned 😎

P.S. - I joke about 1.8t’s but the PD’s are getting just as bad these days sadly, bodged up and brought for tuning requiring fixes which take them beyond the initial time slot which was booked for tuning the car.

Please please please do your best to make sure your car is ready for tuning - I hate turning people away and always do my best to help resolve issues prior to tuning but there’s only so much I can do when I’ve got other cars booked in after yours. 🙂

𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝘀𝗮𝗺𝗲 𝗯𝘂𝘁 𝗱𝗶𝗳𝗳𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗻𝘁... 🧐

Keen eyed viewers may have noticed that this isn’t the usual MK1 Fabia VRS we see, it is in fact a mk2 1.9TDI “PD100”.

The owner has tastefully modified this one with a JW Automotive GT1752 turbo, PD150 12.9 tensile headbolts, a SeatSport style FMIC, “AL” (asz/arl) injectors, 4bar MAP sensor, and some other little supporting mods.

Unfortunately when it arrived it had a few issues, an oil leak, an exhaust leak, and a boost leak! After these were resolved (along with welding some beads onto the hard pipes to stop the silicones sliding off under pressure, and setting the injector lash) the car went on to make great power! I tuned it sensibly as it’s still on the stock 5 speed gearbox. But despite this it handled the power really well!

𝗣𝗼𝗽 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗯𝗮𝗻𝗴 𝗿𝗲𝗺𝗼𝘃𝗮𝗹! 🥳

It’s not often I get asked to remove pops and bangs when retuning a car - but this owner was sick of them and I don’t blame him. The previous tuner had enabled pops and bangs in all driving modes on this MK7.5 Golf R which made for an ASBO drive all of the time!

I started by flashing the ECU back to stock and doing my usual pre-tuning health checks, all was well so moved on to tuning the engine and gearbox. This car had a few mods to help it flow nice cool air more efficiently in the form of an intake, intercooler, and exhaust system. Final figures are 𝟰𝟬𝟯𝗯𝗵𝗽 & 𝟱𝟱𝟬𝗻𝗺 - achieved with a peak boost of 1.84bar, tailing off to 1.5bar. Check the Facebook post for a screenshot of a datalog to see the smooth boost control 😎

Stock figures: 296bhp & 400nm
Tuned figures: 𝟰𝟬𝟯𝗯𝗵𝗽 & 𝟱𝟱𝟬𝗻𝗺

This is a gain of 𝟭𝟬𝟳𝗯𝗵𝗽 & 𝟭𝟱𝟬𝗻𝗺 from the book figures (and a gain of 12bhp and 38nm from the previous tune)

𝗛𝗲𝗮𝗱 𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗻𝗲𝗿! 😏

This custom Caddy is the owners absolute pride and joy! It’s always a great privilege for me to work on a vehicle which somebody has put so much time, effort and money into... And this Caddy van certainly ticked those boxes! Air ride, custom front and rear bumpers, custom interior and paintjob, the list goes on!

Engine wise this van has a 1.9TDI ARL conversion (changed from the stock BLS engine), stock intercooler, 2.25” downpipe and a JW Automotive GT1856 hybrid turbo. The owners request was to make the van drive nice, not chasing all out power.

No dyno on this one but ended up at roughly 220bhp and 470nm, nice and safe for the setup and perfect daily power for driving to various shows/events around the UK and even abroad!

As always we finished off with a test drive with the customer and it’s safe to say he was very happy with the increased performance - smiles all round! 😁

𝗟𝗶𝗺𝗽 𝗺𝗼𝗱𝗲! 🫩

This MK7 Golf GTD came in for some diagnostics and recification work prior to tuning...

Intermittent limp mode (fault code P0299) caused by a faulty N75 valve - resolved with a new Pierburg N75. Whilst we had it in we changed the cambelt and waterpump for new genuine items from TPS and then proceeded to tune the vehicle!

Once the boost issues were resolved the datalogs were looking spot on for a healthy CUNA engine and after multiple tune revisions we achieved fantastic power gains of 𝟰𝟱𝗯𝗵𝗽 and 𝟭𝟬𝟵𝗻𝗺.

Stock: 184bhp & 384nm
Tuned: 𝟮𝟮𝟵𝗯𝗵𝗽 & 𝟰𝟵𝟮𝗻𝗺

Of course the peak figures only tell part of the story, the driveability and responsiveness are vastly improved over stock. Making this GTD drive as well as its’ petrol counterpart!

Just a reminder - I also offer ECU cloning services and immobiliser removal. As long as I can get a read of your old ECU I can clone the data from the old to the new (or used) ECU.

This is a cost effective solution to resolve issues with injector drivers, bad solder joints, intermittent ECU issues, immobiliser problems etc.

If you have an ECU related problem get in touch! Both public and trade customers are welcome, either local or via post. Most ECU’s can be turned around on the same day or whilst you wait if required.

𝗠𝘆 𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗰𝗮𝗻 𝗱𝗼 𝗶𝘁 𝗰𝗵𝗲𝗮𝗽𝗲𝗿… 🤦🏼‍♂️

This is a prime example of the difference between a properly calibrated custom tune and a poor quality flash map.

This customer had not long purchased this PD170 MK5 Golf and realised it was smoking badly whilst in traffic on the way home! Definitely an unpleasant buying experience…

He thought the engine was toast but booked in for a health check to see what the problem was. After checking for fault codes and injector live data everything looked healthy, checked for blow-by and all good. Read the ECU and found the problem! A poor quality remap. I quickly made a test tune up to see if I could make the smoke stop - flashed this on and voila! No more smoke!

The customer was over the moon - I proceeded to tune the vehicle and got it driving as it should with no smoke and plenty of power 👌🏼

𝗜𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗹𝗼𝘄𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝗺𝗶𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗴𝗲 𝗦𝗸𝗼𝗱𝗮 𝗙𝗮𝗯𝗶𝗮 𝗩𝗥𝗦 𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲? 🤔

With just 31,000 miles on the clock it’s certainly the lowest mileage one I’ve seen in quite a few years!

Initial datalogs revealed that everything was in good health (as expected) and the car was making over the factory quoted figures (as the BLT variants of the PD130 engine in the later fabia/ibiza/polo often do). And after a few revisions we ended up seeing gains of 𝟯𝟭𝗯𝗵𝗽 and 𝟴𝟱𝗻𝗺 whilst maintaining safe boost and fuelling levels for the stock components (and zero smoke).

Stock: 142bhp & 329nm

Tuned: 𝟭𝟳𝟯𝗯𝗵𝗽 & 𝟰𝟭𝟰𝗻𝗺

𝗠𝟱𝟳 𝗣𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿! 😈

This E90 (pre-LCI) 330D came to us for a custom remap following some modifications which included:
- Free-flowing exhaust including downpipe
- Upgraded FMIC
- The usual deletes

After the usual health checks and intial runs to confirm stock power I started by working on a calibration for the ZF 6-speed auto gearbox. This includes quicker shift times, optimised shift points, raised torque limiters and an improved strategy for dealing with the extra torque. And as always I added the gear display in drive mode (stock gearboxes just say “D” when in drive, this now says “D1, D2” etc.)

After the gearbox was tuned I moved onto the engine calibration - focusing on improving the general day-to-day driveability of the vehicle alongisde the full throttle power! Multiple revisions later the boost control was spot on and the fuelling was just right for a smoke-free powerful daily driver!

Stock run: 235bhp & 519nm
Tuned: 𝟯𝟬𝟰𝗯𝗵𝗽 & 𝟲𝟲𝟰𝗻𝗺

That’s gains of 𝟲𝟵𝗯𝗵𝗽 and 𝟭𝟰𝟱𝗻𝗺 from the stock figures with just a few bolt-on modifications!
