While I have amassed quite a collection of "current reads," this past week I've been actively reading 3 books: Mortal Things by Marie Lu, Leia: Princess of Alderaan by Claudia Gray & the latest addition to my current roster, Sublimation by Isabel J. Kim!

I've been immersive reading Mortal Things with my audio + bound manuscript, courtesy of @macmillan.audio & @fiercereads, and for me, it feels very much like if The Young Elites and Red City had a baby. If you know me, you KNOW that's like a match made in heaven for me. Current me's favorite Marie Lu work is Red City, but those that have been around here since I was a teen KNOW about me and The Young Elites! 🤭

Leia: Princess of Alderaan I've been listening to on audio, thanks to @prhaudio, and I'd obviously recommend it to those who love Leia's character, but I think I'd also recommend it to those who love Andor and Rogue One, as well, because we get to see how a 16 year old Leia came about the Rebel Alliance and made the choice of joining the cause to serve the galaxy as a whole, rather than just her people of Alderaan. As Vel says in Andor, "Everyone has their own rebellion." This is Leia's.

Last night I found myself in search of a new "Kobo read," and settled upon Sublimation by Isabel J. Kim and let me tell you, I was not prepared for the spiral that this book would send me into, contemplating what I would do if I were in a situation like the one the book poses, and I'm not even at the 25% mark yet! I wonder what conclusions I'll reach on my stance by the time I'm done... by @peachesandsage

LOYALTY IS MY MIDDLE NAME + THERE'S A RAT

Please allow me the opportunity to catch up on NileCorp posting! Our very illustrious and benevolent Branch Head, @thechloegong, has been very understanding of my tardiness and it's one of the many reasons NileCorp, and our beloved StrangeLoom division has my undying loyalty!

Speaking of, I've been tasked with proving my loyalty and dedication to NileCorp, especially given the rumors that we've got rats (Coalition spies have infiltrated the company). While I've been accused by a few misguided fellow employees of being a spy, I'm here to dispel those rumors once and for all. 𝗜 𝗮𝗺 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝗮 𝘀𝗽𝘆, and to prove so, I have put together these images, including a breakdown of my workspace, my collection of our Branch Head's books, featuring our Employee Handbook no. 1, Coldwire, which I've recently finished re-reading, as well as my favorite of Branch Head's series, Flesh & False Gods (which features our very own COO, Mao Mao)! I've also included images of when I met our Branch Head and a few of my fellow employees earlier this year!

Furthermore, I would like to point out that with with my job downcountry + my very important, time-consuming work for our Analytics Division, I would not have the time to be a spy, let alone keep up the ruse during the entirety of my employment.

With all that said, know that we're 𝗢𝗡 𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗖𝗔𝗦𝗘 over at the Analytics Department, surveying and analyzing our fellow employees' activity. 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗮 𝗱𝗼𝗲𝘀 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝗹𝗶𝗲, and we will not rest until we've rooted every single one of these Coalition spies. Happy (belated) release to this stack of absolute bangers and their brilliant authors!

I wanted to make this post last week but it's been a very dark and cloudy one, and I'm stubbornly attached to using natural light for my photos so here we are. Better late than never seems to be my life's motto. #PRHAudioPartner ✮ I was recently accepted into @prhaudio's influencer program (a dream come true) and I genuinely think it's one of the coolest influencer programs out there, with lots of options to choose from (perfect for mood readers like me) and even their own app, so I thought I'd share a little about how it works, what I ended up downloading from their curated lists and what I requested from their catalog!

I hope you enjoy this post and you find lots of audiobook options to listen to (and that you'll give me some recommendations in return, too 😁)! I'll also be sharing a video later on, talking about the audiobooks I've read so far from their program. Maybe when I've read 5? That feels like a reasonable amount to fit in a single video! I was recently accepted into @prhaudio's Influencer Program (I'm still reeling from this!) and as a lover of Star Wars audiobooks, it felt fitting to kick off my time as a PRH Audio Influencer with one. What a fantastic choice Eyes Like Stars was!!!

Eyes Like Stars by Ashley Poston is a Star Wars YA romance starring Ardent Quay, descended from a long line of astrogators gifted at wayfinding, relying on intuition and sense to chart the fastest routes through the galaxy and navigate hyperspace, and whose family owns Hyperlight Tours, an interplanetary touring company that focuses places of historical significance. We follow Ardent as her path collides with Sian, a charming Wild Spacer with peculiar eyes, on the run from the First Order, mysterious artifact in tow.

This was genuinely one of the most fun books I've read in a while! I found it so charming and very full-circle, how Ardent's story began with her search for the last installment in her favorite romance serial and ended with her finding a romance and story of her own. The concept of interplanetary touring made for such a fun adventure, and there were many fun references and cameos peppered throughout. One of my favorite aspects of this story was how it maintained that fun, YA romance feel while also tackling important political topics of anti-fascism, the casualties of war and the importance of preservation of history, both the good AND the bad.

Kristen Seh's narration was PHENOMENAL, so adept at voice characterization, accents and cadence changes that at times it was almost hard to believe it was just one narrator telling this story! And as is a hallmark of Star Wars audiobooks, the audio production was incredible, complete with music, voice and sound effects!

I truly cannot recommend it enough! 💫 by @peachesandsage

What are you currently reading, friends? I started reading A Bittersweet Spell by Rebecca Ross last night and- You know that feeling when you know, right from the very beginning, that you're gonna love a book? Well I'm happy to inform that I'm very much getting that feeling from this book + it's also, oddly enough, scratching the itch that An Edge Sharp Enough by Jesse Q. Sutanto left behind, though I've yet to be able to pinpoint exactly how or why, because they're quite different from one another!

I'm about 20% through and enjoying it so much that I picked it back up this afternoon, which is quite rare for me! Normally, I'll do audiobooks during the day and physical/digital reads at night! by @peachesandsage
