i’d forgotten i’d had this post planned since april 22nd until two days ago and STILL never got the photos ready until i had to post it today but was busy at a cafe today for a few hours…👀
i had so much fun with this, i’m glad i kept it short though because it took a lot of time - i had to take my entire GRRM collection of my shelf for that one photo - but i also *had* to include both of nani’s suggestion’s because even though the first of the two at the end was technically a joke, it made me laugh too much not to share it
(90% of the photos belong to me apart from the sweater pile, the jon/dany art by @mourningstorms, snoopy and smiski pics)

presenting meghan’s belated monthly recap yet again LOL🤪 april was such an eventful month so i didn’t get as much reading done as i would’ve liked but there were so many bookish events that made up for it!

reading: was on a thriller/horror kick this month and i absolutely LOVED BORING ASIAN FEMALE and THE EYES ARE THE BEST PART (impatiently waiting for my hold of MOLKA on libby)! i also buddy read an ARC of THE YOUNG WILL REMEMBER with @bessandbooks and i cannot rave enough about eve’s writing<3 highly recommend both of her books! i snagged ALL THAT HOLDS BETWEEN by indie author @sjleewriter at bookcon and knew i’d love it—RTC! last but not least, i loved LOVE BY THE BOOK; it made me reflect on my friendships throughout the years and the two MCs reminded me of myself and bestie hannah<3

highlights:
☁️ i absolutely LOVED REAL AMERICANS and it was such an honor to meet rachel khong in-person! i thoroughly enjoyed reading her recently published collection of short stories; she’s so cool, she reads a short story everyday and it was fascinating to pick her brain about writing and her varied writing career, from a food journalist, to short story writer, to novelist.
📚 will keep it short here since i made a whole post abt it, but loved meeting so many of my booksta besties irl + some of my favorite authors<3
📖 indie bookstore day! bestie hannah and i worked together to complete our metro indie boston passport of visiting 25 indie bookstores and got so many goodies on indie bookstore day! there were some new places added on this year from last year so it was so much fun exploring new local stores and ofc visiting our usual second homes<3
💇🏻‍♀️ got a long overdue haircut (brought the bangs back)
📦 all the pub mail i received this month🥹 truly an honor, will never get over the thrill and delight of receiving an unexpected package and it feels so surreal that pubs are noticing our account🥹

hope yall have had a wonderful april and are enjoying your may so far<3 may is a heavy ARC month lol but i am having a blast reading SEEK THE TRAITOR’S SON and i’m SO excited to dive into my SUBLIMATION & THE SECRET WORLD OF BRIAR ROSE ARCs!!

this was my first convention and personally as an introvert homebody, it was so overwhelming and exhausting, but i’m so thankful and happy i got to meet so many book besties and some of my fav authors!!!🫂🫶 (s/o esp to @peachesandsage who somehow FOUND me in the chaotic mess of a macmillan ARC drop ??? you are the sweetest ilysm!!)

⟡ veronica roth - literally a DREAM COME TRUE to meet this queen!! if y’all remember the crazy orchestral piece as the bg music for my cursebearer series review post, i told veronica about it and she wrote it down to listen to it later hehe
⟡ tia williams - my reservation time was 5:30 pm so i was exhausted/a mess and FORGOT to take pics but i absolutely loved her!! SEVEN DAYS IN JUNE is one of my top fav romances so i ended up blubbering my life story to her esp abt my teacher to juvenile public defender journey/my tightknit relationships w my kiddos (the mmc is a teacher!)
⟡ s.j. lee - prior to bookcon, i stumbled upon a review of ALL THAT HOLDS BETWEEN and knew i HAD to visit lee’s booth in indie alley and im so glad i did!! i felt so seen in the short lil convo we had abt being taiwanese & our shared love for taiwanese food<3 i loved talking with lee in broken mandarin and hearing her speak familiar taiwanese phrases that my 阿嬤 regularly says🥹seeing 繁體字 on her stickers also made my heart so full<3 cannot wait to read this book!! (described as a cozy dystopian w taiwanese comfort food?! if u know me, u know i’d eat that up)

picked up a lot of freebie totes/bookmarks/stickers and lil trinkets from various vendors! several were crafted by the sweetest booksta friends🥹 (s/o @whoiscxy for the CUTEST handmade miffy keychain!!)

still undecided if i wanna go next yr but if i do, i def want 3/3 of abft there🥺

Booked & busy in the city🚕📖🍎🏙️

Wow, where do I even begin?!

First off, thank you @berkleyxobooks for inviting me to celebrate the new imprint! I’m so excited to be a BerkleyXO creator and share these incredible upcoming releases📖💜 And of course, thank you for welcoming me into the Penguin Random House office and letting me pretend I work in publishing for a day, truly a dream!🐧 I had the best time hanging out with the BerkleyXO authors and fellow creators!

Huge shoutout to @simonteen and @scarlettpress.us for hosting such a fun event with amazing authors, you definitely put my mini golf skills to the test ⛳️🫣

This weekend reminded me why I love the bookish community so much🥹Whether you’re an author, creator, or reader, it’s such a special thing to share this love of books. Getting to meet so many of you and make new bookish friends was easily the highlight of my trip 🫶

So beyond grateful for these experiences, my heart is so full!!🤍

And lastly… should I move to NYC?🤔

New York, you were a dream!!

I spent three days running around and talking about Drown the Bones with literally everyone. I met my publishing team (the most incredible people in the world) in person, chatted with and signed books for readers, and caught up with author friends.

I’m home now, absolutely exhausted and utterly elated. Life is good and I love being an author. I didn’t think I could be MORE excited for Drown the Bones to come out in November but I’ve been proved wrong!!
