Three unforgettable days in Puerto Maldonado 🌿🐒🦋

We visited the Peruvian Amazon as a family and came home with some of the most incredible memories and experiences ever 🥹

We saw amazing wildlife, explored the jungle, walked through the rainforest at night, ate delicious food, and fell asleep every night listening to the sounds of nature all around us. It was exciting, peaceful, beautiful, and completely different from anything we had experienced before.

Being surrounded by so much life and natural beauty made us appreciate our beautiful Peru even more 🇵🇪💚 I’m so grateful we got to experience this adventure together as a family. These are memories we will treasure forever!

Day 4… Machu Picchu. 🤍🇵🇪

We boarded the @perurail VistaDome Observatory train from Ollantaytambo to Aguas Calientes, enjoying incredible views along the way and such wonderful service. From there, we took the bus that would bring us to one of the New Seven Wonders of the World… Machu Picchu.

The moment I saw it, I was speechless.

Even though this was my fourth time visiting, it somehow felt just like the first. There’s something so magical about this place that words can’t fully describe. The beauty, the history, the peaceful energy, you truly have to experience it for yourself.

But this visit was different.

For years, I dreamed of one day standing here with my own little family… my husband and our boys. Seeing them experience the wonder of Machu Picchu with their own eyes was something I had imagined so many times, and watching that dream become a reality was incredibly emotional.

Standing there, surrounded by the Andes, I felt overwhelmed with gratitude. Grateful to God for blessing us with the opportunity to share this unforgettable experience together, and grateful to have been born in a country with so much beauty, history, and culture. 🥹🙏🏼

Some places you visit once. Others become a part of you. For me, Machu Picchu will always be one of those places. ❤️🇵🇪

Day 3 in the Sacred Valley was filled with history, breathtaking views, and one little reminder that travel doesn’t always go exactly as planned. 🤍

We started the day exploring the incredible archaeological site of Pisac. Walking through its impressive agricultural terraces and ancient ceremonial structures, it was impossible not to admire the ingenuity of the Inca civilization.

We then enjoyed a delicious buffet lunch in Urubamba before heading to Ollantaytambo, one of the best, preserved Inca towns, still inhabited after hundreds of years. Exploring its massive fortress, ancient temples, and water channels felt like stepping back in time.

Unfortunately, Jake wasn’t feeling well that morning, so he had to stay behind and miss our adventures. We definitely missed having him with us, but thankfully he was feeling much better by the evening, and we were all able to enjoy dinner together at our hotel. ❤️

Every day in Peru has its own story, and this one reminded us that even when things don’t go perfectly, there’s still so much beauty to experience… and so much to be grateful for. 🇵🇪

Our Peru adventure started the moment we landed in Lima… but instead of staying there, we hopped on another flight straight to Cusco and then made our way to the Sacred Valley (Urubamba). We chose to spend our first few days there to acclimate to the altitude and it was the best decision. 🤍

Our first stop was the incredible Maras Salt Mines, where thousands of salt pools have been harvested by local families for generations using ancestral techniques. Seeing this tradition still alive today was so special.

Next, we explored Moray, home to the fascinating circular terraces the Incas are believed to have used as an agricultural laboratory. It’s amazing to think about how advanced their knowledge was centuries ago.

From there, we visited Chinchero, a beautiful town where you can truly experience the heart of Andean culture. To end the day, we spent time with a local community, walking with alpacas, taking in the most breathtaking mountain views, and even dancing with our new friends. Their warmth, kindness, and joy made it one of the most memorable moments of our trip.

I’m beyond grateful to experience Cusco again, but sharing it with my family made it even more meaningful. ❤️🇵🇪
