A first set of unpolished fragments:
Faces focused, surprised, tired, amused, concentrated, lost in thought.

Drivers and co-drivers are thinking of the hours behind them and the road still ahead. Spectators leaning into the moment. People unaware that, for a split second, they have become part of my story.

The Mille Miglia is often described through its cars, its roads, its noise and its history. But for me, it also lives in expressions.

An affogato, somewhere along the road.

One of many stops during the Mille Miglia 2026, and one of those small moments that says everything about the spirit of the event: generosity, laughter, and the joy of being together on the road.

Here, Gabriele offers a very Italian pause in the middle of a very Italian adventure.

Gabriele and her husband Riccardo make a wonderful couple, bringing great conversations (and sunglasses 😉) to the table.

A co-driver, a fun, energetic hand gesture, a camera, a smile somewhere between mischief and friendship.

This is the Mille Miglia at its best: history in motion, Maserati generations side by side, and that glorious sense of joyful lawlessness that somehow remains perfectly innocent.

On Saturday, June 13th, 2026, at 10:40 AM, as a line of race cars waited to enter a time control during the Mille Miglia, a surprising encounter brought smiles to everyone around us.
This dynamic lady, out grocery shopping, noticed the Maserati A6 GCS/53 in the queue. The sight of the car stopped her in her tracks. She walked over, not to ask a question or take a photograph, but to share her memories.

Without introducing herself, she began speaking to the team, transporting them back more than seventy years to a time when she was only four years old. She spoke of her father taking her to watch the Mille Miglia in the 1950s, of the excitement of seeing the great machines and drivers of the era, and of the impression Maserati had left on her young mind. In that moment, the years simply disappeared, and there she was again: a young girl, fascinated by the design of a Maserati.
The memory of her father, the emotions attached to her childhood experiences, and this unexpected sight of the Maserati all came rushing back at once. Her story added a meaningful connection to the race and quickly brought joy and smiles to all of us.

Passion for Maserati runs deep and wide. It thrives in collections, workshops, and on racetracks, and lingers in the memories of those who have once been captivated by the Trident.

On this occasion, it only took one Maserati A6 to bring those memories back to the surface.

This week, the 1000 Miglia once again brings history back onto the open road.

Seen here are three of the six Maserati entries taking part in the 2026 edition: the A6 machines driven by Igor and Lara Zanisi, Niklas Pohl and Sophia Floersch, and Dominiek and Valerie De Clerck.
