Pelham Fringe brings artists & community together to create joyful & meaningful theatre in the spirit of fringe-rooted in craft, heart & collaboration

POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

The house was packed on Friday night. Sunday afternoon sold out.
The first-ever Pelham Fringe Festival played The Picture House on October 2 and 4, 2026: five original short plays, with live music and improv between them.

Every play on the bill was new writing inspired by a Pelham Fringe event. Jeffrey B. Fuerst (A Pair of Mopes) and Rich Feldman (Radio Silence) wrote for an "After the Influence" event based on the work of John Patrick Shanley. Joni Fritz (How Can I Help You?), Bette Carlson Siler (So Sorry to Kill You, Poor Little Man), and Andrew O'Brien (The Company We Keep) wrote theirs after an evening themed on Theresa Rebeck. For Andrew and Rich, it was a playwriting debut!

Plays were only part of the evening. The doors opened to a reception with live music, and improv ran between the plays. Jean Garner led the trio at the opening reception, and Ellen Weiss led at the end, while James Ahn Brandfonbrener played piano, Gabriel Schmid-Doyle played upright bass. Jim Ewing, Carolyn Marie Wright and Jill Friedman were featured between plays as the "ACME Moving and Improv Company," performing hilarious improvised scenes while changing the sets.

Pelham Fringe's first table read, on October 29, 2025, drew thirty-two people to August: Osage County. Eleven months later, the company filled The Picture House twice.

Meet four unforgettable women: fierce, flawed, funny, and full of heart. The Company We Keep story is a love letter to the women who raised us, the friends who still call us out, and the ties that never really break. When did everything get so serious?

See these five original one-act plays, punctuated with improv comedy, plus enjoy drinks and delicious bites accompanied by live cabaret-style music at the inaugural Pelham Fringe Festival this afternoon at 4 pm at the Picture House.

Pelham Fringe Festival (opening tonight!!!) features the premiere of five original plays, including A Pair of Mopes, written by Jeffrey B. Fuerst and directed by Cathy Reinking

It’s 1984, and even a couple of mopey putzes can possibly find love. Lifelong friends Hugo, Louie, and Yolanda delight in giving each other sh*t, mercilessly, in a vernacular of poetic invective that is simply their way of saying they love each other deeply, fiercely, and unshakably.

See these five original one-act plays, punctuated with improv comedy, plus enjoy drinks and delicious bites accompanied by live cabaret-style music at the inaugural Pelham Fringe Festival.

Thank you to a new addition to downtown Pelham, Fifth Coffee, who stepped right up and supported our new artistic endeavor, Pelham Fringe. A great spot for creative daydreaming accompanied by specialty coffee, matcha, tea, pastries, desserts, and gelato.

We are so grateful to all the local businesses helping us build an artistic home for serious play, ambitious work, and the kind of collaboration that keeps artists moving forward.
