Groundbreaking Research in Pelvic Pain Published in JSM: Neuroplasticity-Based Self-Management Shows Efficacy

We are proud to share that our pilot study on PelvicSense® is officially published in The Journal of Sexual Medicine (JSM)

Retraining the nervous system using neuroplasticity-based strategies is still rarely integrated alongside traditional medical care for chronic pelvic pain. This pilot study evaluated the feasibility and potential benefits of PelvicSense®—a self-guided online program combining pain psychoeducation, mindfulness, and gentle movement—for individuals living with provoked vestibulodynia (PVD).

Key findings from the study include:
▪️ Reductions in Pain Intensity: Statistically significant decreases in pelvic pain, averaging a 3-point reduction on a 0–10 scale.
▪️ Decreased Pain Catastrophizing: Significant reductions in Pain Catastrophizing Scale (PCS) scores—directly targeting fear, worry, and hypervigilance.
▪️ Improved Well-Being: Positive shift across sexual distress measures.

If you are trying to conceive, chronic pelvic pain can be part of that journey too, even though it rarely gets talked about alongside fertility care. Standard advice is not enough for conditions like this, and a long list of lifestyle changes can feel overwhelming on top of everything TTC already asks of you.

That is where @pelvicsense comes in. A clear evidence-based roadmap that guides the nervous system, pelvic floor, and pain response back into balance alongside medical care. Paired with Kiara’s personalized fertility health insights across 7 key areas, you get support for both the physical and reproductive sides of your journey.

Results from two recent 3-month clinical pilots measuring the effectiveness of PelvicSense for women diagnosed with Vulvodynia and Endometriosis:

A 2.5-point drop in pelvic pain rating, surpassing the standard 2-point clinical significance threshold. Participants moved from moderate disability to no disability. And measurable improvements in sexual function and pelvic comfort.

Insertable devices fail hypertonic pelvic pain patients.

Platforms like Sword’s Bloom, Axena Health’s Leva, and Hinge Health have built impressive tools for muscle weakness and incontinence. But when these insertable hardware solutions are used for chronic pelvic pain, bladder pain, endometriosis, or vulvodynia, a major mismatch occurs.

Hardware-first models rely on physical insertion using wands, biofeedback sensors, or contraction trackers. For people with pelvic pain, these might

Trigger threat responses and pre-exam anxiety

Exacerbate muscle guarding and spike physical pain

Lead to frustration, causing people to abandon the device and "throw it in a drawer"

When your pelvic floor is in a high-alert state, your central nervous system is amplifying threat signals.

PelvicSense offers a zero-device, top-down neuroplastic approach designed specifically for complex pelvic pain:

Autonomic Self-Regulation: Shift your nervous system out of fight-or-flight and into a calm state where you can rest, digest, and be intimate.

Pain Science Education: Learn how to send clear safety messages to your brain to ease persistent pain.

Gentle Breath and Movement: Rebuild trust in your body and restore safe movement without internal hardware.

Freezing up before a pelvic appointment?
That urge to cancel isn't "just nerves."

If you live with chronic pelvic pain, the days leading up to a specialist visit can feel completely overwhelming. It isn't just basic pre-appointment butterflies—it's anticipatory anxiety.

It’s the fear that:

The physical exam will trigger a painful flare-up.

You’ll be told "everything looks normal" when you know it’s not.

You'll leave with more questions than answers after waiting months for the slot.

When you’ve been through the medical wringer, your nervous system naturally goes on high alert to shield you. Wanting to pull away isn't weakness—it's a protective response to chronic pain and stress.

How PelvicSense Helps You Prepare:

You don't have to walk into that exam room feeling overwhelmed or defenseless. PelvicSense supports you before, during, and after your care:

Calm the Alarm System: Learn autonomic self-regulation and breathing techniques to soothe your nervous system before walking into the clinic.

Understand Your Body: Pain science education helps you make sense of your symptoms so you can advocate for yourself with confidence.

You deserve to feel safe and empowered in your healing ability.

The hidden barrier to peak executive performance? Chronic pelvic pain. Millions of women silently manage severe cramps, fatigue, and brain fog at work—costing an average of 15.8 hours in lost productivity every week.

Because symptoms are scattered across medical claims, most HR leaders never see the true impact. Without scalable support, skilled women are forced to reduce hours or leave the workforce.

PelvicSense is changing that—our digital platform teaches self-regulation and coping skills at home, restoring focus and protecting employer budgets.

VULVODYNIA & ENDOMETRIOSIS New clinical outcomes demonstrate measurable relief.
When you’re living with chronic pelvic conditions, standard self-care advice isn't enough, and being handed a massive list of lifestyle changes to choose from can feel completely overwhelming. Instead of a wide net of options, a clear, evidence-based direction is preferred.
PelvicSense provides a gentle, easy-to-follow roadmap designed to calm pelvic hypersensitivity and rewire the pain response along with medical care.

Here’s the data from our two recent clinical pilot studies for women diagnosed with Vulvodynia, specifically the Provoked Vestibulodynia diagnosis, and Endometriosis who did PelvicSense at home for 3 months:

•	Significant Pain Reduction: A statistically significant 2.5-point drop in pelvic pain rating, surpassing standard 2-point clinical significance parameters.
•	Overcoming the Toll of Chronic Pain: A major decrease in pain catastrophizing scores (the worry, fear, and feeling of hopelessness that accompanies chronic pelvic conditions), moving participants from being moderately disabled to no disability.
•	Improved Intimacy: Measurable improvements in sexual function and pelvic comfort.

Instead of guessing what to do next, PelvicSense safely guides the nervous system, immune system, brain, and pelvic floor towards a state of balance, one predictable step at a time.

Endometriosis Research: Rewiring the Brain's Pain Response
On average, it takes 7 to 10 years of gaslighting and misdiagnosis before receiving an endometriosis diagnosis, followed by 6+ month specialist waitlists.

But what if you could actively retrain your nervous system from home while you wait?

An independent medical pilot study with Queen’s University researchers looked at participants with Endometriosis using PelvicSense—our digital, self-paced pelvic health education program. By learning modern pain science and self-regulation skills, participants actively disrupted the underlying nervous system adaptations (central sensitization) that sustain chronic symptoms.

Our 3-month results from the data, included a ~33% reduction in baseline daily pain intensity and a complete shift into the "No Disability" range for pain-related worry, rumination, and helplessness.

PelvicSense provides an accessible home resource to use alongside your medical care, during long waitlists, or between appointments.

5 Ways We’re Still Failing Women

Celebration is great, but true progress means fixing the gaps that put women’s safety, health, and stability at risk.

Here are 5 urgent issues we can’t ignore:

1. Make femicide laws stronger—safety is a right, not a privilege.
2. Change how we handle sexual abuse—survivors deserve dignity and real accountability.
3. Close the gender pay gap—equal work, equal pay, now.
4. Train doctors to take women’s pain seriously—no more dismissing symptoms.
5. Fund women’s health research—what we don’t study, we can’t fix.

Let’s turn hashtags into action. Real empowerment means policy, equity, and justice.

It's 2 AM. You can't sleep because of pain. So you ask AI for answers.

But what if those answers are wrong?

I've been using AI to organize educational content about pelvic pain, and I caught a number of serious errors, one big one:

AI wrote: "Your body is trying too hard to protect you."

Should be: "Your nervous and immune systems have become hypersensitive to all sorts of threats; the brain becomes overprotective and continues to sends pain or pelvic distress sensations even though the original tissue injury has healed."

This isn't a small distinction. It perpetuates the outdated idea that pain equals tissue damage.

I also found fabricated research citations and fear-inducing claims about normal activities.

The problem: Healthcare providers can spot these errors. Patients searching at 2 AM can't.

What to do:
✅ Never assume AI health info is accurate
✅ Verify with professionals
✅ Report errors when you find them

AI has huge potential for health education—but only if it's accurate.

Have you caught AI giving wrong health information?

🌟 Excellent news for women with provoked vestibulodynia from our PelvicSense® pilot study! 🌟

We're opening digital doors to pelvic wellness for women with provoked vestibulodynia (PVD)—a condition causing significant vulvar/pelvic pain and sexual distress.

Our self-guided digital program showed promising early results:

✨ Reduced pain intensity (clinically significant!) ✨ Decreased pain catastrophizing (big shift)✨ Reduced sexual distress

Even with varied engagement, participants experienced real improvements.

Why it matters: Digital wellness solutions can reach women facing barriers—geography, cost, shame, or lack of specialized providers.

Next step? A large-scale clinical trial to bring accessible pelvic wellness to everyone who needs it.

Because effective wellness solutions shouldn't be a privilege. 💜

Pilot study results on endometriosis and PGAD coming soon!

PGAD/GPD symptoms can come from multiple parts of the body, not just the genitals. Contributing areas may include the pelvis, pelvic floor, spinal cord, cauda equina, and brain pathways.

Medical guidance now emphasizes assessing these 5 regions while also supporting ongoing, concurrent nervous-system calming. Strategies that help regulate the nervous system can reduce symptom intensity and improve comfort while waiting for or while receiving specialized care.

At PelvicSense, we offer guidance and self-care tools designed to support patients in managing PGAD/GPD symptoms at home. Our approach aligns with the 5-region framework and emphasizes nervous-system regulation alongside pelvic and psychological support.
