How does the nervous system affect chronic pelvic pain? 🧠 The big driver for pain is an overly sensitive nervous system. The GOOD NEWS is that you can learn how to soothe and lower persistent pain.   Our nervous system is wired to send danger messages to the brain and if the brain gets too many threat messages, it revs up the protective function sending your body signals of burning, urge, itching and pain.   Soothing your nervous system is a key to reversing chronic pelvic pain. In this reel Evelyn shares her pain science knowledge to help you gain deeper understanding WHY you feel persistent pelvic pain. You can rewire your brain to send feelings of wellbeing and safety. My mind/body home program @pelvicsense is rooted in the teachings of neuroscience and my 25 years of experience as a licensed pelvic physical therapist. Many women who complete the program experience a dramatic reduction of chronic pelvic pain when they commit to doing the affordable digital program for 20 minutes, three times a week for 3 months. If this Reel resonates - head over to @theproagewoman, the September issue to watch the full video. Are you ready to free yourself of pelvic pain?    #nervoussystem #neuroplasticity #distresssignals #pelvicsense #heal #chronicpelvicpain #pawvoices #proagewoman #pain #painscience #immunesystem

Are you feeling anxious and stressed about your pelvic issues? Keep reading for a scientifically proven way to enhance calm and lower pelvic muscle tension.  When feeling stressed, the fight/flight nervous system activates. The brain senses that you’re in danger and sends pain signals - as a form of protection   This response is not helpful if it’s continuously on, keeping you in a perpetual cycle of anxiety and stress and pelvic dysfunction.  Diaphragmatic breathing instantly calms the fight/flight nervous system which helps the brain sense that you’re safe, so it sends your body more feel-good chemicals, not pain.  As you slowly inhale, the belly gently expands to make room for the downward movement of the diaphragm. Guess what happens to your pelvic floor during the slow inhale? Yup, it also gently expands/widens too. As you exhale slowly, both your diaphragm and pelvic floor muscles return to their upward resting dome position. Most women with pelvic pain or pelvic floor dysfunction tend to have constant tension on their pelvic floor, so doing a few diaphragmatic breaths can help reverse chronic pelvic tension.  My evidence-based online program, PelvicSense teaches you how to practice this and many techniques to elevate calm and lower pelvic tension.  Imagine starting PelvicSense today and by August feeling significantly better!  Just three months to literally a new you.  We’ll continue to share practical tips all month to give you hope that healing from chronic pelvic pain or distressful pelvic issues IS possible.   Are you ready to begin your journey?
