Seriously… Skechers suddenly popular? I feel like all millennials, especially elder millennials can relate that we weren’t allowed to wear them. Why was that? But are you wearing them now?? Land sickness!! It’s wild because on the ship I feel completely fine but when I get off the ship… the whole ground feels like it’s moving. Its such an insane experience because you know cognitively the room isn’t swaying. I mean I even ask Josh just to confirm. But it feels like I’m still moving! It’s the worst when I walk. Who knew you could get land sick! Have you experienced this? ——————— We’re Josh and Dana Penley, sharing our perspective as expat international school teachers who love traveling the world on our breaks. Never have I ever seen a urinal with a lid! I mean seriously, what’s the point of this? What benefit would it provide? Apparently we’re homeless… according to our students. Yes technically we don’t own a home or rent an apartment in the traditional sense. Instead we are traveling during our on land rotation. We’re working, traveling and experiencing the countries we are in for a while. Would you trade an address for a nomadic life? ——————— We’re Josh and Dana Penley, sharing our perspective as expat international school teachers who love traveling the world on our breaks. Razor clams… would you try them? They do look strange. Normally I think of clams and most seafood as round so the long shape threw me off. They actually aren’t bad. I would recommend. This restaurant prepared with some delicious fresh lemon. Mont Saint-Michel is a UNESCO World Heritage Site for good reason. Its history is incredible having been a church, a prison, and surviving almost 1,000 years in this tidal coast of France. We were blown away while walking up to the Abby. The sight is incredible. Unfortunately we were a little disappointed when we got inside the Abbey. It’s kind of bland, very sparsely decorated. But I guess what do you expect from 1,000 years of history. I’m very glad we got to experience it but I think the outside is more stunning and the history more interesting than actually being there. Have you been? What do you think of Mont Saint-Michel in France? ——————— We’re Josh and Dana Penley, sharing our perspective as expat international school teachers who love traveling the world on our breaks. We fell in love with Saint Malo in France! The town is sooo cute with old small streets, cute shops and amazing restaurants that spill out into the patios on the street. The French food was incredible and the views were incredible: morning, noon or night. It was so pretty and were so glad we got to spend time exploring this adorable French town. When we accepted this new job, we never thought we’d love this lifestyle so much. Yes there are exhausting moments but when you look out over the beauty of the water, realize how grateful we are that we get to be part of the select few in all of history to experience sailing on open water or sunrises, it’s really incredible! We look for joy in the small moments that help recharge us. What recharges you? ——————— We’re Josh and Dana Penley, sharing our perspective as expat international school teachers who love traveling the world on our breaks. Is this normal in France?!?! We were just walking down the road when we saw two girls walking their horse and dog. Also what kind of a horse is this? ——————— We’re Josh and Dana Penley, sharing our perspective as expat international school teachers who love traveling the world on our breaks. Getting food on board takes a whole crew of people! The provisions order is placed, the food gets delivered and the students line up to make a human chain. They pass every package down the chain and it makes its way to the ballast where we have cold storage (freezer and refrigerator) and dry storage. This happens at every port! ——————— We’re Josh and Dana Penley, sharing our perspective as expat international school teachers who love traveling the world on our breaks.
