POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

Getting to know a business and write for them is like walking around in a fancy new pair of shoes 👠✏️

They’ve got all that passion and experience, and you get to stick it on and strut around in it like it’s all yours.

If @lens_eleven was a pair of shoes, she’d be a really cool pair of cowboy boots.

And I f**king love cowboy boots.

So happy to be working with Laura on sales pages for her brilliant, life-changing photography courses this year.

(Also, she gives excellent testimonials).

If you're after somebody who can translate your passion into clear, human words - give me a shout. October is full but November is booking... by @penthemighty

The speaking journey continues! I'm at @coworkcrew Manchester this week with @goodnessmarketing and @leylaalexanderdesign ❤️

I'm talking about why building trust and rapport with your audience is ESSENTIAL in the AI age - and why we can only do that by being our real live human selves.

Humanity is now our differentiator! And this is actually a pretty cool thing.

I'll talk about how freelancers and founders can get better at being ourselves in our copy and content - and make real connections with people who love what we do.

Join us for a day of laid back co-working, cake and a lil bit of chat 🍰

Trying to get better at talking about WHAT I DO for a living - as this is actually what this account is for ✨ Not just posting about gigs on Stories 😂

Obviously life stuff included too, because it's fun.

Incidentally I've read SIX books this month which is the most I've read since I was a library nerd child. Less to do with free time and more to do with landing on excellent books, including London Falling, Big Nobody (thanks @want.need.wear.feed for the rec - devoured it in a day!) and also Coffin Moon which is a must-read if you like horror. So brilliant 🦇

September was lovely, so happy to be back into my routine after summer chaos. Hope October is just as lush! This September... by @penthemighty

August: the usual rollercoaster of fun stuff Vs the stress of trying to keep everyone alive/sane/ensure work didn't totally go down the plughole 🤩

Did make it to a bunch of gigs inc Pigs x7/Irked, Humanfly, Pulp/Self Esteem, Way Dynamic, Playlunch and our very own big lad smashing the drums at the Wardrobe with Rock School - every single one was banging, what a time to be alive.

Had a little cry about Dolly, obvs 💕

Back to school is always bittersweet, good luck everyone who's off back this week 💪🏼🔥

1. Lucked out with the weather in Anglesey
2. When all else fails, gelato
3. Nose flute, my purchase of the month
4. Community sauna-ing with the street crew
5. Playbox fun in Bradford
6. Wythenshawe Park for Pulp/Self Esteem
7. Playlunch going off like a frog in a sock by @penthemighty

Last week I did my first EVER in person talk, for @coworkcrew Leeds.

I've been delivering online workshops for years, but I've never done one in front of living, breathing IRL humans.

The day before I was nervous as owt. I messaged my media training expert friend @smileykt and we had half an hour going through my slides (too many - I chopped some) and my fear of vanishing off down rabbit holes never to be seen again (don't worry about it - just get back on track stat!)

On the day it was GREAT.

Bizarrely, in the moment, and afterwards, the nerves disappeared completely. It's almost like the melange of @kirstyhulse speaker training, @silkythecomedian improv comedy course and years of playing in bands FINALLY paid off.

And actually, turns out it's a lot more fun when you can see people (especially when they're furiously nodding) and feel the energy of the room.

FAO speakers and wannabe speakers - @coworkcrew is such a good training ground for testing your speaking muscles or trialling a new talk.

There's great energy, a super supportive crowd - and cake. A lot of cake. And they're popping up all over the UK. Definitely worth going along to check em out if there's one near you.

As for me, I think I might have my next talk in my sights...

And if anyone else wants a former zombie aerobic instructor with strong opinions about writing for human connection in the age of misinformation - you know where I am 🧟‍♀️

Thanks for inviting me, and for the pic @fullythoughtout ❤️ by @penthemighty

Dead impressed with what @chromagb is building with the Big Brew mornings at @northernmonkrefectorylds.

I find it increasingly hard to be engaged by marketing or business talks at the moment. Talk of optimisation and conversion just makes me feel weirdly low. Maybe because it's part of the same ethos that's got the world in the current mess it's in?

The antidote is surrounding yourself with more good people doing great things, and that's exactly what today was about.

Fantastic and genuinely insightful discussion about building brands that give a shit - with our lass @viczaremba, furniture designer Ashleigh Brumpton and Jim Ker from Cox Automotive.

Loads of lovely people in the room (most of whom I failed to talk to - I will do better next time!)

Plus surely the best goody bag in the WORLD - i.e. one with a book swap book in it - inspired idea 🤩 Scroll to see what I got...

...just need to make sure I've read it by the time the next one rolls around! taken in Northern Monk Refectory by @penthemighty

Feeling very fortunate to have been asked to run a workshop at @freelancermag's first virtual conference 💖 and get to be there as an attendee too.

So much value. So many lovely new connections. And an actions list as long as my arm! 📝

This is the bit you don't always get with small biz conferences - things you'll actually go away and DO.

Yeah it's nice to go to an event and be inspired, but I also want to learn. I want to get stuff that will translate into making me better at my job. #fml2026 totally smashed this brief.

From a host POV, it's been a good few years since I delivered a writing workshop and I was nervous. I worked and reworked my session for weeks beforehand to get it right (thank you to my wonderful podmates for helping me with this ♥️).

But I needn't have worried.

@fullythoughtout 's cool, calm support, plus meetings beforehand and an amazing session with Kirsty Lewis meant I felt backed all the way - and having Mary in the session to spot comments and set timers was unbelievably helpful 😇

Hats off to Sophie for encouraging workshop hosts to provide practical, interactive sessions that kept people engaged, talking, doing and connecting.

It worked like a dream.

#FML2027 here we come...

You'll find no shouty 2026 energy, massive goals or gung-ho resolutions in my world this week 🐈‍⬛😴

I'm quietly tiptoeing through the office door and into my first week back, still brushing off the final mince pie crumbs.

Although I do have one resolution - I've bought a desk top amp (vintage valve amp lovers look away now, it weighs less than my guitar 🙈) and resolved to play for at least 30 minutes every day before work in a bid to sharpen my chops. Let's see how far this gets me...

Beautiful planner pictured is by @anna_the_designer - think she still has a few left in this colourway if you're quick...!

Wishing a happy new year to you ❤️

Signing off work a little early 🎄🤶🏼

It's been a year with not enough time off (mostly due to my poor planning) so I'm sneaking in a few extra days while the kids are at school - bliss 😍

Pictured: my annual Christmas feast for one whilst finishing up last little bits and doing my tax return. Smug, yes, but trust me - eating party food while you do it makes it SO MUCH EASIER.

Deck the halls and be tres jolie! ☃️
