Hi fam! So, my baby Mela has always struggled to keep her eyes open in the smallest of sunlights. She will either close both eyes or squints her left one๐Ÿ˜ฉ As a result, taking outdoor pictures of her can be quite frustrating, as you already know, iPhone cameras love natural sunlight. A little backstory: Mela was born prematurely(30 weeks) and spent some time in the NICU. Her eye development was the only concerns raised by the doctors during our discharge. But then, we attended several ophthalmology appointments as follow ups and thankfully, she was eventually cleared. However, when she turned 3, we returned to the ophthalmologist because of an issue with her left eye (drifting). Sheโ€™s been monitored ever since, and surgery has even been considered. But hereโ€™s my concern: her extreme sensitivity to sunlight seems to get brushed aside whenever I raise it with doctors. And as her mum, I canโ€™t just ignore something that clearly affects her. Im not a doctor but I feel something isnโ€™t right and Iโ€™m determined to get to the bottom of it because, at this rate, how will this child survive the Nigeria sun like this ?๐Ÿ˜ฌ Please, are there any ophthalmologists or parents whoโ€™ve experienced something similar with their children here? Honestly, I didnโ€™t become a Messiโ€™s fan because he became the GOAT, Iโ€™ve been here since the beginning, I mean day 1. One thing my 7 year old Mela is particularly proud of this holiday is the number of books she read and of course, she had to give us a little introduction to some of her favourites. ๐Ÿ˜ As our children head back to school around the world, Iโ€™m wishing every one of them a beautiful and successful school year. May they grow in knowledge, confidence and curiosity. May they discover their strengths, make wonderful memories and, most importantly, never lose the joy of learning ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿฝ.
