@aucklandtheatreco just announced their 2027 programme, including The Boy from Vaiala by the incredibly talented @victorrodger!

The highly unlikely but utterly faaabulous story of Pasi.

Father of three, maître d’ to the stars, founder of an iconic drag bar, always fabulous, Pasi Daniells Silva was a character born for the big stage. He was a raconteur of tall tales, his dancing was full of flair and his presence was larger than life.

The Boy from Vaiala is presented as part of Creative New Zealand’s Festival Commissioning & Presentation Fund, managed by PANNZ, in collaboration between Auckland Theatre Company, FCC, Te Ahurei Toi o Tāmaki Auckland Arts Festival.

See it from 2 – 14 March 2027 at the ASB Waterfront Theatre.

Single tickets are on sale from 19 October at https://www.atc.co.nz/whats-on/2027-season/the-boy-from-vaiala by @performingartsnetworknz

A new chapter for FAME alum @tupelualua

The Sāmoan dance practitioner, choreographer, producer and founder of @lemoanaarts has been announced as Basement Theatre’s Spring Time & Space Resident for 2026.

It follows a busy year for Tupe, including taking Tupua Tigafua’s Shel We to @brisbanefestival in September as Producer and Tour Manager.

Tupe, who received a PANNZ FAME Mid-Career Award in 2022, will use the Basement residency to begin developing a deeply personal new work exploring who her dad was before he became her dad and, for the first time, putting script development at the centre of her practice.

We love seeing where the mahi goes next. Tupe will be in residence at @basementspace from 8–14 November by @performingartsnetworknz

There’s just a few days left to see loveable dads Jeff Parsnips and Tom Knowles in their brand-new kids live music and comedy show But Why, Dad? at Circa Theatre!

Hot on the heels of the smash-hit All The Things I Wish I Could Be, which they also pitched at the 2026 PANNZ Arts Market, Jeff and Tom are back with a show that’s bigger, sillier and more theatrical than ever.

Packed with original songs, live music, larger-than-life characters and plenty of audience interaction, But Why, Dad? takes curious kids on a wonderfully weird journey through some of life’s biggest questions. Meet the superhero BUT WHY MAN, witness the Alphabetricarchy as the alphabet stages a musical uprising, and watch two dads desperately try to prove there’s something humans can do better than a robot.

On until 10 October, book your tickets now: https://www.circa.co.nz/package/but-why-dad/ by @performingartsnetworknz

EXCITING NEW WORK FROM SAM BROOKS

Longtime friend and familiar voice across Aotearoa’s performing arts community, award-winning playwright and journalist @sbrookbrooks is back with a brand new play.

All You Had Was Fun brings four friends, pizza, wine and a missing person into Q Vault, where the same night plays out again and again across different points in time.

Written and directed by Sam, it’s a play about friendship, grief, memory and the roles we fall into with the people who know us best.

The cast brings together Max Crean, Kate Johnstone, Adeline Shaddick and Tyler Wilson-Kokiri, with design by Filament 11 and styling by Kristine Crabb.

We’re always happy to see new work from artists who have been part of the wider PANNZ whānau and performing arts conversation over the years, and very much looking forward to this one.

ALL YOU HAD WAS FUN
18–29 November
Q Vault, Tāmaki Makaurau

Love seeing @trickofthelightnz Suitcase Show out in the world and selling out their Copenhagen season.

Next stop is @teaterkatapult in Aarhus, another lovely PANNZ connection. Torben Dahl came out to PANNZ Arts Market the year before last, and we’re looking forward to hopefully welcoming him back to the Market again in 2027 (1 - 4 March in Tāmaki Makaurau)

A great example of the international relationships that begin at the Market and keep growing.
