An annual jaunt up to the Albert 1er winter hut at 2,700m for an overnight, under autumn's soft light.

Its terrace overlooks the expansive Glacier du Tour where deep crevasses open up as it creeps down steeper gradients.

Highly evident is just how much the glacier's size has diminished since last year.

Understanding what it means to be AuADHD.

All the colourful charts I see with suggestions of how we should manage different, challenging scenarios are useful, but sometimes nothing works.

Except being in that one space or engaging with that passion that makes us feel calm and safe.

Whatever that passion or space is, it can take time to find and develop. Yet those around us can often steer us away, seeing it as a distraction from what we 'should' be doing or as a 'passing phase'.

Seeing and supporting what makes the neurodiverse mind tick can change lives.

Adventure cycling and racing has saved me from myself more times than I can remember over my lifetime, before understanding that I'm (unashamedly) AuADHD.

The recent ride along the @venetodivide reminded me of that. Chasing cool camp spots to watch sunsets, sunrises and moonrise.

There's still so much work to be done in educating the wider society on how to TRULY support the neurodiverse mind. As it's so layered and nuanced. The outdoor industry is the perfect space, as it's an environment where we can find focus, belonging and connection.

All aspects I bring to my neurodiversity workshops and education.

People sometimes remark that I don't come across as socially awkward. But it's so environment dependent.

If I have a connection with someone or the group through a shared passion such as adventure sports, I'm in my 'safe' and relaxed space. Conversation around the subject flows easily.

Beyond that, my social manual has empty pages. My brian loses interest. I find it hard to know what to say or how to act. And the mental fatigue of trying to be part of the group or conversation mounts.

I'm often unsure how to greet too, even with people I know. A simple 'hi', shake hands or a hug—usually waiting for the other person to initiate!

The constant battle of wanting to be social, but often struggling with the demands of being social 🙄.

My safe space is solo. Which I know isn't always healthy but it's become my learned default. Although I'm always up for a run, ride, ski tour or hike. Having a dog join is always a bonus 😁.

A DNF at the incredible @alpsdivide hits hard. Especially when the decisive factor was the failure of the @rotorbike Kapic Carbon crank (4th one I've had with the same issue).

I did however get some images (phone only) of the stunning landscapes I did manage to ride through. Every col rewards with captivating vistas, even when the weather comes in! It may be my backyard, but I never tire of riding these trails. Even the hike-a-bike.

Thanks to @leetownendski and @katiejaneendurance for putting the route together and keeping riders safe with the numerous reroutes this edition due to rockfall.

Hope whoever takes over running the event, maintains its strong community feel and accessible pricing.

My neurodiverse anxiety has been getting the better of me. I didn't feel like riding/training but went out anyway.

A short loop to a favourite spot with views out over my backyard.

Age brings certain societal expectations, but due to my AuADHD I am 'different' and that doesn't make it easy to fit in.

I'm glad that I found my sports, as they made a huge differnce in my life. Much of the time I'm out there solo, but that's ok, as it's my time out, moments to reset.

Finding a deep passion for something as an AuADHDer is transformative.

Making use of the downtube bolts on the Cascade to mount some side cages with a full frame bag.

I get too clammy with hydro packs and just like bottles to be able to gauge how much water I have left.

Not aero of course however.

Backyard lap trail 'running' (fast hiking on the steep parts) with the @topoathletic_france Pursuit 3 providing the grip & the camera for the views.

Still hot. Ridiculously dusty. The predicted storm teased with a few rumbles, but failed to deliver on the expected rain 🙄.

Sure, it's an event in my backyard (and passes within 800m of home!) but I never tire of the alpine landscapes I'm surrounded by.

And it's a superb event where all are made welcome, no matter your ambitions or background. Run by 2 wonderful humans @leetownendski and @katiejaneendurance.

Just under 4 weeks to go.

Early september weather is unpredictable! It could be hot. It could snow.

And the autism of an AuADHD mind is known for its dislike of unpredictability 😅
