Meet our next Unsung Hero – Scotty Cornish 🇬🇧

Scotty is redefining what inclusion in sport looks like. After discovering later in life that he is AuADHD — ADHD with autistic traits — everything began to make sense. The realisation became the catalyst for Perform Unbound: Reframing What We Are Capable Of, the organisation he founded to improve inclusivity and access to sport for the neurodiverse community.

Through Perform Unbound, Scotty uses his lived experience and background in physiotherapy and psychology to educate and consult with schools, outdoor groups, and sports organisations. His mission? To help others understand how neurodivergent individuals think, communicate, and thrive when environments are designed with inclusion in mind.

For Scotty, trail running has always been more than movement — it’s been a lifeline. A space where his mind quietens, where belonging replaces self-doubt, and where connection outweighs competition. Even after a serious injury, returning to the trails reminded him just how deeply sport supports both his mental health and identity.

Scotty’s story reminds us that running isn’t about chasing performance — it’s about joy, acceptance, and finding your place, exactly as you are. He’s a voice for change, and truly, an Unsung Hero.

If you know someone like Scotty — or want to share your own story — nominations are now open. 🔗 in bio.

Day two of the @imba_europe Summit 2025 🤝

Highlights included Esther Walker presenting the @outride project and their mission to empower people everywhere to experience the social, emotional, and cognitive benefits of cycling. Filmmaker @weinbergmarkus made a quick pit stop at the summit to share his incredible journey, riding 7,800 km from the far northeast to the far southwest of the European continent. Scotty Cornish @performunbound spoke about the positive intersection between neurodiversity and mountain biking.

Tomorrow is game day for the DIRTT 2.0 project, with the Final Dissemination Event on the agenda ⚔️

📢Summit Speakers in the Spotlight 🌟

This powerful breakout session brings together Esther Walker, Research Lead at Outride, and Scotty Cornish of Perform Unbound, for an inspiring deep-dive into the transformative impact of mountain biking on youth and neurodiverse communities.

We kick off with insights from Outride and its Riding for Focus program-now reaching nearly 400 schools across North America-showcasing how bikes are boosting students' emotional wellbeing, focus, and community connection.

Then, hear directly from a neurodiverse rider and advocate on how mountain biking becomes more than movement, it's a space of freedom, confidence, and belonging. From breaking down stigma to building inclusive trail communities, this session is all about creating accessible, empowering experiences for all.

Join us to explore how these inclusive models can be adapted across Europe- and how schools, trail networks, and communities can ride together toward a more inclusive future. 🚴‍♀️🌍

Reminiscing our time at Girona for the Euro Spring Campaign.
We spent a couple of weeks at @palaucycling, a stunning 19th Century serene home in the heart of Girona where you can recover as hard as you train. The spacious “castle” provided the perfect space for the whole team to commune, host friends for meals, and have fun while in close proximity to some of the best cycling trails. One of the best features was the state of the art mechanic workshop that offered the necessary support to ensure our bikes were in great shape. Special shoutout to the support of our mechanic @nicksewe ;master chef @chefmaurice72 ;physio and bike fitter @performunbound and coach @owen_searle.
We appreciate all our partners, sponsors and community that has immensely supported our journey through time.
Mucho gracias, hasta pronto!

@thetraka 360 was a one of a kind with highs and lows. From punctures and mechanicals, to great energy and technical support, todays race was the ultimate challenge. It tested grit and mental endurance.
Great run by @tsgabugrmay and @charles_kagimu who went past the finish line with not only a medal, but big lessons and a smile after such a brutal course.
Traka 200 and 100 to go! Catch you at the start line…

During summer 2023, I had the chance to photograph and contribute to a trail running guidebook, created by @runthealps and published by @helvetiq_ch . It was one of those projects that reminded me why I love what I do—long days in the mountains, a camera in hand, spent with lovely people.

The process was far from glamorous. Between scouting trails, finding models, organising shoots, and squeezing it all into an already packed schedule, it was a challenge—but one I’m proud to have been part of. What made it even more rewarding were the conversations we had along the way, from choosing models who reflect the diversity we want to see in trail running to making sure the imagery felt authentic and inclusive.

Looking back, I realise how much running has shaped my life—first as a way to quiet my mind, then as a way to find connection and purpose. From fell running in the English Lake District to life in the Alps, running has been the thread that’s pulled me through. Working on this book feels like a small way to give back to the sport and the people who have helped me feel more settled over the years.

I share more about the journey that led me to this project in my latest Substack post. Let me know in the comments if you’d like the link to read it!
