POSTS STORIES REELS

It’s about time I actually formally introduce myself. Hi, I’m Tina and I’m the author of My Perimenopause Parade: Featuring My Hot and Hormonal Animal Friends. This photo was taken the day the author’s copy arrived. What you don’t see are the happy tears I just cried.
*
It’s a short, illustrated book that follows 43-year old woman whose perimenopause symptoms have transformed into actual animals.
*
Animals like the roaring lioness who screams at the clutter in her home. The anxious deer who ChatGPT’s her symptoms way too much and thinks her organs are fried. The overwhelmed bear who is begging to sleep, but can’t stop doom scrolling. The hormonal raccoon who inhales a cake at 12am. To the side eye sneering snake who just judges everything and everyone, silently of course. And many more.

*
What this woman also learns is not just to see her feelings, but she learns how to honor them with compassion.
*
I got the idea for the book after reading my young daughter a book about her feelings. I was longing for a simple & illustrated book that took such great care of my unpredictable feelings as well.
*
So, I wrote it. It took two years and incredible partners including illustrator @mit_design_ and marketing agency @viewmarketingandcreative who executed the idea beyond my wildest dreams.
*
What I didn’t expect from this creative project, is the community of incredible women I’ve gotten to know. We are all on this journey together. We have questions to ask. Stories to tell. And wisdom to share with one another. I’ve been lucky enough to participate in several events since launching in June, and the energy that is felt when we all gather, is pure and powerful.
*
September is Perimenopause Awareness Month and I am honored to participate in many events, one at @scoutstalesbookstore, @korlagree and a few more to be announced soon. Each event will include carefully curated conversations with incredible women who will leave you inspired. With deep gratitude, thank you for following along.
I hope the content + stories shared at every event and on this page, help you feel seen and part of a community!

Today I’m sharing something that’s been in my heart for two years.

I wrote the perimenopause book I always wanted.

Two years ago, I was reading my 7-year-old daughter a book about feelings and found myself wishing there was a book about my own damn feelings.

Not children’s feelings.

But those big perimenopause feelings.

The hot flashes. The anxiety. The self-doubt. The criticism. The weepy days. The rage days. The brain fog. Losing words. Losing sleep. Feeling like you’re losing your mind—and your body.

I wanted a book that acknowledged and honored all of it.

But I didn’t want those feelings to scare us. I wanted them to hold us. To meet us with compassion and kindness. Like a warm hug on a hard day. I wanted the story to rhyme. I wanted it to make me laugh, to tear up and to feel seen.

So I wrote.

And wrote.

And re-wrote, many times.

Along the way, I dreamed up a cast of characters—a weepy-eyed kitten, an anxious deer, a hormonal raccoon, a proud peacock, and many more—to help tell the story of this wild, messy, emotional stage of life.

Today, I’m incredibly excited (and a little emotional) to share that my first book, The Perimenopause Parade: Featuring My Hot and Hormonal Animal Friends, is officially available on Amazon.

This book would not exist without the support, encouragement, and belief of so many people along the way. And a special thank you to my talented illustrator, Mithini Wathsala, who brought these characters to life so beautifully and to Tanya Sillitti and her team at View Marketing for the incredible website (just wait til you all see it!).

My hope is that this book helps women feel seen, understood, and helps them honor this stage of life.

If you’re navigating perimenopause—or know someone who is—I would be so grateful if you’d share this post.

The Perimenopause Parade is now available on Amazon worldwide. Link in bio, or search “Perimenopause Parade” on Amazon.

And because I genuinely want to know: What’s one thing you wish people talked about more when it comes to perimenopause?

One of my publishing dreams came true last night. My deepest hope for My Peri Parade was for women to gather. To chat. To feel seen. To giggle. To give themselves the permission to be honest about their mid-life feelings. And perhaps even to dream a little.

@ashleymanleywrites - my new favorite hag - gave us permission to write what we want to see. To dream up worlds of characters that we all fall in love with (yes even Reese, if you know you know).

A massive thank you to @scoutstalesbookstore for one heck of a book party. Thank you ladies who attended! And a massive thank you to my dearest friend, my ride or die, who have just as much fun at these events as I do.

Last night was incredible. From bringing @ashleymanleywrites and @perimenopauseparade to @scratchboardkitchen for the ultimate girl dinner (salad and truffle fries anyone?) to smiling and laughing all night. These two brought all the joy. We had 50 enthusiastic readers in the shop loving every moment hearing from the Matriarch of the Hags. I think we are all ready for a Zamboni love story. Thank you for sharing your life and your book recs with us. Till next time. 💜💜💜 #scoutstales #shoplocal #arlingtonheights #bookstore #womanowned by @perimenopauseparade

I journal a lot. Especially when I am presented with a question that really makes me think. Lately I’ve been thinking about how much midlife gives you a chance to figure out who you are underneath all the things we’ve become responsible for.
*
So, I’m going to start leaving some of the questions I’m journaling about here.
*
Not because I have the answers. Mostly because I believe deep questions, let in new light. They let in an aha we never knew we needed.
*
So, here’s the first one: who am I when no one needs anything from me?
*
Don’t overthink. Just write. And if something surprises you and you’d like to share, come back and comment.

Who doesn’t love a little peri & prosecco?! A massive thank you to @shop2sisters and @speakeasy_therapy for such a fun event. There’s something so special about women gathering together to openly chat about all the feels that come along with perimenopause. Big thank you to everyone who attended. I hope enjoyed it as much as we did! And for those of you who don’t have your book yet … there might be a few signed copies at @shop2sisters left! :)

Perimenopause or not, closing out the week like this overwhelmed bear, begging to sleep. Who’s got a nap in their plans this weekend?

She’s cute and she’s hot. Flaming hot. Always. Hot flashing in the winter and in the summer. When does she turn the heat up, no one knows. Not even her. Introducing the hot-flashing dragon, one of my personal favorite characters in the book.
