Out Now 🫧 PERM003
𝓦𝓲𝓵𝓵𝓲𝓪𝓶 𝓢𝓱𝓪𝓴𝓮𝓼𝓹𝓮𝓪𝓻𝓮 by @giansound

Listen on Bandcamp at the link in our bio. CDs and streaming will be available soon.

Our third release is William Shakespeare, the seventh solo album from gían pérez. Recorded at home, the fourth “songs album” by the @officehourstheband front man, improvising guitarist, and actor represents a major heel turn in his work.

Over a relentless 9 tracks, gían pushes gain and digital clipping through shockingly pretty melodies and revealing lyrics. While some tracks feel like instant-classic walls of sound (“wall-e,” “hot sake lazy river,” “believe me”), others approach unabashed pop (lead single “Skiddish,” “Killing Me”), yet they all feel distinctly rooted in gían’s idiosyncratic sense of sound. While mostly comprised of original music, a cover—The Cure’s “In Between Days”—serves as a musical bellwether for a dramatic, gorgeous, and even punishing collection of songs.

An album release show will be held this Sunday, July 26 @brotherswashanddry featuring performances by @360figure8 & @handsfullofgreens

Listen to "skiddish" now at the link in our bio.

chase it down the alley for me
do you think i’d run as far as you
something in the water
that we bathe in

coming up on half a decade
after all the planning where’d we stop
something in the water
what we makin

but i know not to complain
though I know the only way

cavities are getting steeper
giving it a chance to let it thaw
something in the water
can we vape it

but i know not to complain
though I know the only way by @permanent__press

Announcing PERM002 🫧
‘The Vanguard Exists to End Itself in the Arriven Crowd, overand over: Live at Roulette’ by the Selendis Sebastian Alexander Johnson Big Band @ssajbigband
Releases March 27, 2026
Digital and CD pre-order available now at the link in bio.

"This band first came into my mind in 2018, it first began to look like a possibility in March 2022, and it first met in February 2023. The first 2 years of its existence was spent getting ourself used to existing, and exploring what possible paths there were to go down years in the future. In May 2025 we performed the show recorded on this record at Roulette Intermedium with as many people as we could fit on stage (25), and then took the longest break from playing we have yet.

At the time the music on this record felt to many of us like the beginning of a new era, with new possibilities feeling much more in reach, but almost a year later, that feeling is superseded by the sense that this was the culmination and demonstration of 2 years of exploration, after which we could finally rest for a little, to come back stronger than we had before. The release of this record, our first recorded music, is a part of that return of a new type. I'm very grateful to Permanent Press, Roulette Intermedium, Hart Bar, Property is Theft, The New School, the band, and our ancestors of many types." - Selendis Sebastian Alexander Johnson

Happening TOMORROW, March 19th: the Big Band will perform on a bill with other Permanent Press artists @orchiddbb and friends Storytime at the @brotherswashanddry, 7pm. Hear a bit of the sounds that will be on this record then. See you there xoxoxo taken in New York City by @permanent__press

Announcing PERM001 🫧
"water the teeth" by orchiddBB
Releases February 20, 2026

Our first release is "water the teeth," the debut album by orchiddBB. "water the teeth," written between 2021 and 2024, hyperfixates on the early challenges of gender transition in the wake of complex trauma. Using a unique instrumental palette (soprano voice, violin, electric bass, and percussion) and novel musical strategies (a hand-signaled system, text to speech, dense instrumental passages), orchiddBB weaves a disorienting, vibrant, and cathartic fabric.

Listen to "endless sea, the deep" now and pre-order the album on Bandcamp at the link in our bio. CDs and streaming will be available soon.

News. We are starting a new label. It’s called @permanent__press.

We’ve helped operate and curate @brotherswashanddry for the last year and a half (alongside fellow Laundronauts Sampson Hollander, Gían Pérez, and Selendis Sebastian Alexander Johnson). In that time, we have heard and witnessed a gathering of community that supports each other through every sonic landscape imaginable.

So what is “Permanent Press”? In short, we heard all of this music and decided it needed a centralized place to be heard, interrogated, and understood. To that end, we are launching a new label dedicated to the new, the strange, and the undefinable.

Permanent Press’ releases are on the horizon and visible from the current day. In February, orchiddBB will release their album, “water the teeth”. More new music from others in our community will follow.

Follow this space for updates. Our washing machine doesn’t have a name yet either, in case you’re wondering.

Keep your laundry clean,
