What a week for my pal, @perrychafe!

His debut novel Closer by Sea was optioned by Hope & Hard Work, and last night we got a special screening of Below, the new Netflix series where Perry is a co-writer (premiering October 8th.)

And that’s just two of the latest additions to an already pretty impressive list of credits.

Love to see it!. Congrats, buddy! by @perrychafe

Last night was about celebrating with creative people telling Canadian stories that matter. Now, more than ever, we need to double down on our unique culture and stories.

First, congratulations to @perrychafe whose novel Closer By Sea (such a sweet read about the innocence of growing up in a tiny town in Newfoundland) is one of the first projects already in development as a TV adaptation with Hope & Hard Work, the new production company launched by Katie Telford and Justin Trudeau. Thank you @ketelford and @justinpjtrudeau for inviting me to your launch party.

BTW, Perry Chafe also created Son of a Critch with Mark Critch, as well as Below, a 6 part thriller series starring Josh Hartnett coming to Netflix in October. I’m in awe of his understated talent.

Which brings me to the next celebration - @critchmark’s bittersweet final season of @sonofacritchtv just launched, ending the much loved series on a high note.

It was also a treat to celebrate the launch of the Lucky TV series with author @marissastapley, hug the super talented @allanaharkin, raved about @lostsouthasian with @allanhawco, reconnect with @fab.filippo, catch up with podcast partners @donovanwoods and @tomjoepower and finally, shout out @melissagrelo’s success in the post party elevator crammed with a dozen women.

On a personal note, it’s thanks to Marissa Stapley and Perry Chafe that I became a client of @samhaywood_litagent for my memoir. Because of that connection, I will have my own big news to celebrate very soon.

Seriously, what a night! 🥳 taken in TIFF Toronto International Film Festival by @perrychafe
