Sommer auf Perigo Island von Perry Chafe
☀️
Werbung, Rezensionsexemplar. Dankeschön @mareverlag 💛
☀️
Lesenswert!

A grand night out, Newfoundland style!

Tonight was all about BELOW, the new @netflixca series that is giving us plenty of reasons to be proud of homegrown talent!

Thanks to Stephen Dunn, one of the series’ directors, a few of his good friends, and members of the cast and crew, @spiritofnl Spirit of Newfoundland was the place to be for a watch party with a whole lot of heart. Even better? The evening raised an incredible $12,000 for the Trinity Fire Department!

And the series? Terrific! Interesting, funny, engaging, and a love letter to Newfoundland and Labrador. Below celebrates NL's rich history, extraordinary gift for storytelling, and the abundance of talent that calls this place home.

It’s a reminder that there are some pretty remarkable stories to tell right here in Newfoundland and Labrador, and the talent to bring them to life.

So, do yourself a favour. Watch Below on Netflix and give it two enthusiastic thumbs up! 👍👍

Because one season simply isn’t enough. We want SEASON TWO!

🎬🌊 NETFLIX’S BELOW HAS LANDED… AND WE’RE TUNED IN TO WATCH …and having a little AI fun to celebrate too!

With Netflix’s new Newfoundland-set thriller BELOW bringing our rugged coast, fishing communities, and mysterious waters into the spotlight, we figured it was only fitting to show off our very own local talent! 😉

“All our fishermen look like this. Don’t yours?”
(Ours Do!)

While we can’t promise sea monsters on every trip…with Old Salty Dog Excursions, you can count on salt air, beautiful coastal scenery, great fishing adventures, and a little Newfoundland character thrown in for good measure!

📺 Watch BELOW on Netflix.
🚤 Experience the real thing with Old Salty Dog Excursions!

Because around here, the stories are real, the fishermen are salty, and you never quite know what’s lurking BELOW!

What a week for my pal, @perrychafe!

His debut novel Closer by Sea was optioned by Hope & Hard Work, and last night we got a special screening of Below, the new Netflix series where Perry is a co-writer (premiering October 8th.)

And that’s just two of the latest additions to an already pretty impressive list of credits.

Love to see it!. Congrats, buddy!

OUR SUMMER STACK 📚

Summer, for us, is a little bit about slowing down — finding a quiet campsite, sitting outside with a coffee, and getting lost in a good book between adventures.

So here’s our summer reading stack. A pretty eclectic mix of stories, from queer coming-of-age and complicated relationships to psychological thrillers, crime and literary fiction.

Young Mungo — Douglas Stuart
A Little Life — Hanya Yanagihara
John of John — Douglas Stuart
The Line of Beauty — Alan Hollinghurst
Bath Haus — P. J. Vernon
Closer by Sea — Perry Chafe
The Caretaker — Marcus Kliewer
Two Kinds of Truth — Michael Connelly

Some were page-turners, some were emotionally devastating, some kept us guessing, and a few stayed with us long after the final page.

Basically, the perfect kind of travel companion.

What’s been on your summer reading list? And more importantly — what should we read next?
