Happy Father’s Day.

Today is one of the most meaningful days on the calendar for me. It’s a moment to reflect on the weight and gift of fatherhood—how, in an instant, everything changes, and responsibility becomes love in action.

I’ve been blessed to hold my sons at the very beginning of life, completely dependent on me, and watch them grow through being little people who see their father as their world. In both seasons, my heart has been full beyond words. They are a big man now and I have the bonus blessing of a son and daughter through marriage.

And in looking at my own father, I understand it more deeply now—the quiet shift from being led, to becoming the one who leads. Still wanting to make him proud. Still learning from his example.

Fatherhood is not about holding on—it’s about sending out. Giving your children a foundation stronger than your own, so their starting point is further than where you began.

We are launchpads. And the greatest hope is that when they leave, they know they are deeply loved—by their earthly father, and their Heavenly Father by @personalvictory

So here is the story.

We had a 50th celebration for Alex this past weekend… in Madrid 🇪🇸

Alex had a 72 hour layover in Spain so decided to tag along and make it her birthday trip.

We are extremely busy as most couples are but we are super intentional with the times that we have together. Before the campaign heats we decided to take this trip and if needed, we can talk strategy in Spanish courtyard instead of Starbucks.

How does 72 hours to unplug, walk 20k a day, find a vintage record store, drink Sangria for less than the cost of bottled water (It’s true: Alex’s drink was 3.50 and my sparking water was 4) and admire architecture in one of the oldest cities in Europe sound? It was divine.

Thank you for sparking a love for travel, Alex. That was a memorable escape.

I love you, but I really like you.

Happy Birthday

Nathan is 20!!! Here is 40 seconds of good moments with this big man.

One of the questions Nate has asked me over the years is what was my favourite age for him and Aaron as they grew up.

Was it when they were babies?
Perhaps when they were just learning to walk?
Maybe taking them to church dressed up as cute little men?

My answer is always the same.

Right now is my favourite time you with you, Nate.
I love your questions. I love your sense of adventure. You have a desire to travel and explore new foods and cultures.
You have become your own man and I am very proud of you. God has you poised for greatness as you stay close to Him. It is a joy to watch.

Every day is my favourite day with you, Nathan Reid.

Every day is a lovely day.

Happy 20th Birthday, son.

Love dad. by @personalvictory

This weekend, I finally had the chance to visit Molly in Halifax. While I was there, I reconnected with my good friend Cara and even managed to squeeze in a great Pilates workout. I was also fortunate to spend time with Suzy Hansen, MLA for Halifax Needham, who joined me for a meaningful visit to Africville.

Talking with Suzy—whose family originated from Africville—added depth to the experience and reminded me how important it is to understand our shared histories. I also visited the Pier 21 Immigration Museum, where the story of Canada—both the good and the difficult—was thoughtfully presented to spark conversation and reconciliation. It was very well done.

I explored the Halifax Farmers’ Market and learned about the rich legacy of East Coast blues at the historic Bearly’s House of Blues.

It was a restful and recharging weekend with my stepdaughter, filled with moments of reflection, connection, and growth. Along the way, I met new friends, scouted out the shiny new Halifax Convention Centre, and—as always—took time to explore public transit.

I even took the bus back home from Pearson after my wife dropped me off at the airport on Friday. Every trip is an opportunity to learn more about our communities, our history, and ourselves. by @personalvictory

Summer in Chicago
As soon as I learned about this travelling 🏀 tournament, I thought I must meet with my long distance friend, Pilates colleague/ business partner on her brilliant initiatives/ co-conspirator in disrupting the Pilates Space and inspirational friend, Jenna Zaffino (I always say her full name because it’s so cool to me).

We. Have. Never. Met. In real life.

Of course, she was just as authentic and lovely as she always is.

Nate’s games just so happened to be in the same suburb as her son Jax’s games so I got to cheer on this young phenom at his 8 am soccer game. It was a 3-1 dub (what a great kick ⚽️ and football IQ, Jax👊🏾). Bonus: I also met her hubby Josh whom I have connected with over the years as well! He reminded me of my wife with his humour - that might be a snarky meet up. @alexandra.reid88
What’s better than summer in Chicago?
Summer in Chicago with Jenna Zaffino and pancakes with the fam!
Fun fact: if you re-watch our Core Conversations, you will hear a lot of the catch phrases that I use in my addresses as a city councillor. “Support, Amplify & Connect” came out of our heart to heart talks. Jenna Zaffino, you are a true friend and our meeting felt as comfortable as sitting down with family after a long absence. Much love. You are always welcome in our home when you and Josh eventually come up for soccer trips with your super 🌟 Jackson. That kid will have you travelling like me for the next decade. lol. #familyreunuon @james_crader it’s time to meet again! @joshua_zaffino @jennazaffino @reid4ward9 by @personalvictory

Highlights from The Chicago Summer Classic.

Drop 2: @natee.reid played in the All-Star Game and had fun hoopin with top players from across the US - Blue tee-shirt games on Thursday.

Then the business trip began on Friday. @westunitedprepacademy went 2-2 and qualified for the silver bracket. Blue went undefeated on Sunday to win it all.
It was so good to Nate flowing with his teammates. This was his last run at AAU ball before headed to @niagaracollegembb in the fall so for the fifth-year guys, this was the finale.

Everyone had mixtape- worthy moments. Here is a compilation of #FlowStateNate as I now call him. 🏹 🏀🔥🥈🎯

This weekend, I had the proud dad moment of driving to Chicago to watch @natee.reid play at the National Summer Classic. We arrived on Wednesday to tour the city and then head to the suburb of Waukegan. The extended weekend began with an all star game and skills competition. Here is the first of a couple posts as I reflect on a full weekend of quality time with my son, some close friends and an individual that has a special place in my heart.

Nate heads to @niagaracollegembb in the fall. This was his final AAU run and the end of Highschool ball. He ended on a high. I cannot say enough about the professionalism, organization and passion the coaches at @westunitedprepacademy. They brought out the best in Nate’s game. I have seen him play since he was 6 and he has never had so much fun on the court. I called Nate “Flow State” as he was in his game and not in his head all summer. It was fun to watch random parents compliment him as he stepped off the court and hear the players sitting behind me telling each other to watch “31”. He would respond with a humble “appreciate you”, and keep moving. #Character. #FlowStateNate

Drop one: Nate going 25 for 27 in the free throw comp. 🏹🎯🏀🔥

There’s a running joke in my home: whenever Alex and I are at a social gathering and the topic of our occupations comes up, she instantly becomes the most interesting person in the room—as a flight attendant. Honestly, they’re right. And here’s a perfect example why.

Last week, I was feeling the full weight and responsibility of this role I love. Wednesday marked the first week without a City Council meeting as we transitioned to our summer schedule. Alex had the opportunity to pick up a flight to Edinburgh—departing Tuesday, arriving Wednesday morning, and returning Thursday afternoon. It was the perfect window for me to slip away, explore a new city with my wife, and make it back without missing any scheduled commitments.

We had a blast. We walked over 10 km through the downtown core, ate amazing food, and drank some truly awful scotch. We laughed. We played. The hills and old castle stairs were no joke—definitely a workout. We even caught a glimpse of the King and Queen Consort as their motorcade passed by. I’d say it was a good week.

Alex worked hard on the seven-hour flight, and I cheered her on from my complimentary first-class upgrade. It was surreal seeing Paddington Bear in his natural setting. And yes, one of my highlights was spotting a rare Renault— Top Gear fans know the deal.

At first, I hesitated to post this, fearing judgment. But then I remembered why I share in the first place: to inspire you—to move, to heal, to love, to celebrate, and to seek out adventure.

I cherish cozy couch dates with my wife after long, exhausting days, just as much as I love spontaneous budget-friendly adventures when they present themselves.

The bottom line?
Do what makes you feel alive.
Savour the moments with the ones who make you smile
Thanks for another fun adventure, Mrs. Reid!

Nathan, your birth day was a lovely day! Your mom, brother and I were elated to have a healthy baby boy! Your early arrival was gift!

Happy 19th Birthday, Nathan Alexander Reid!
Your name carries weight—Nathan, “Gift from God,” and Alexander, a name tied to legacy and leadership.

You are deeply loved, respected, and admired. On and off the court, may your influence grow and your purpose shine. I believe God will shape you into a leader whose impact reaches far beyond anything we can imagine.

My goal is for you to exceed everything I’ve achieved—because one generation should lift the next higher. No pressure… but you’ve got it in you.

Enjoy your day, son. You are a gift. @natee.reid by @personalvictory
