Love this new work by @sally_edmonds_art
‘First To Wake III’ hit the printer for the first time this week, just in time for the migratory Rainbow Bee Eaters’ arrival to our area from the north.
This print is an absolute colour bomb 💣 reproduction of Sally’s painted original. Faithful repro work as always by the legends at @foxlabfineart and printed by me on @cansoninfinity PhotoArt Canvas.

Just casually printing the winning image from the Australian Geographic Nature Photographer Of The Year 2026 - Matt Deakin @from.miles.away
This one is on canvas. The weird mirrored edge you see here is the ‘correct’ way to print canvas wrap, the stuff that gets stretched around the timber frame. You don’t lose a part of your image and the wrapped edge just disappears. Magic! Looks a bit odd when it’s flat like this mind you!

It's a busy time at my place, but it's always a treat to open a new batch of prints from Paul at @perthprolab . These ones will be packaged and ready to find new homes at my Open Studio next month, as part of @mundaringhillsopenstudios

All of these are Limited Edition Reproduction Prints, so they will come with an individual Certificate of Authenticity, with the title, Edition number, and date of printing. My original paintings are expertly photographed by Tyson @foxlabfineart , colour matched and catalogued. Printed on beautiful Ilford Cotton Rag textured paper, the quality of these prints is divine, and if framed properly, will last a lifetime.

Over the past twelve months or so I’ve been working with Jarryd West @raw_by_jarryd building a folio of his work.
Much of Jarryd’s work is of people, many models which I naturally can’t share for privacy / release reasons but this cool art print was screaming to be shared.
For a rich art feel, I printed this one on a super textural warm tone rag paper from Ilford @ilfordimaging that is now discontinued. I stock literally dozens of different papers, many, like this one only get used once in a blue moon but when the right image comes along it is just perfect! taken in Perth Pro Lab by @perthprolab

Aspect ratio and cropping is something that catches a lot of people out. Not just beginners, photographers of all levels of experience.
If you’ve bought a frame and it is a different aspect ratio to your image, we need to do something to make it fit.
The three most common approaches are:

Option A)
We crop the photo to fit. Some of the content will get cut off! Sometimes this is great and adds to the shot but it can mean that Uncle Jim and Aunt Gladys are cut off the ends of the family portrait.

Option B)
We make your image smaller than the frame and use a matboard. This can look pretty smart and we have lots of matboard sizes ready to go. If it’s a weird one, our framer, Chris can cut one custom for you.

Option C)
A personal favourite, we make the image smaller than the frame and utilise a ‘photo border’ or white border around the image to fill the frame. The size of this border varies on frame size but it can be just what an image needs to look nice and finished without being ‘boxed in’
