It's a busy time at my place, but it's always a treat to open a new batch of prints from Paul at @perthprolab . These ones will be packaged and ready to find new homes at my Open Studio next month, as part of @mundaringhillsopenstudios

All of these are Limited Edition Reproduction Prints, so they will come with an individual Certificate of Authenticity, with the title, Edition number, and date of printing. My original paintings are expertly photographed by Tyson @foxlabfineart , colour matched and catalogued. Printed on beautiful Ilford Cotton Rag textured paper, the quality of these prints is divine, and if framed properly, will last a lifetime.

I'm Stacy Gardoll, Botanical painter, specialising in our beautiful Western Australian native flora. I'm inspired by the resilience, beauty, and variety of these species, and my passion is to spread the visual joy of them, as well as the message of conservation. 🌸

👆🏽This looks KILLER.

📷To create a masterpiece you need a Master Printer.

Paul Jarvis is the man behind @perthprolab - he is who I trust to finish my printed Images and bring my artworks to life.

Mate - you belted this one out of the ballpark. I cannot wait to get my hands on this and spend the rest of my life looking at it.

This print is to hang in my own home and is truly one of my top two favourite images to date, capturing a once in a lifetime moment, and realised through a lifelong passion for Photographic Imaging.

Just two days left to spend time at the Binalup, Menang | First Light, First People exhibition at the Albany Town Hall, open 10am-5pm.

The Elders' stories are of strength and resilience, and many of them were previously unspoken.

Aunty Glenda Williams:
"When I was two months old, Mum became sick and the missionaries said they’d look after me for a little while, and took me to the Gnowangerup Mission. When Mum got better, she wanted to take me back home, here to Albany, and they said ‘No’.

So for nine and a half years I was in the care of welfare, and mission life. You had your good times, but they were very strict. Satan was on the left, Jesus was on the right, and you just went straight down the middle. You couldn’t do wrong, you couldn’t play up, they disciplined you and that was it.

I was nearly nine and a half, and I was never told where I was going. I had a little case, and two welfare officers brought me down here. Not that I knew it was Albany—children were to be seen, not talked to. The welfare bloke took me up these couple of stairs with my little case, the door opened, there was a ‘Hello’ between this woman and this man, and the door was closed. I didn’t know where I was. I didn’t even know who that woman was or who these kids were.

Well, that was my mother and two sisters. I didn’t know these people, I didn’t even know I had siblings—they never told me. Nothing.

Welfare’s got a lot to answer for. They thought we had no minds. They just put the kids out there when the mission closed, and you didn’t even know where the other kids ended up so you couldn’t stay in touch. A lot of fellas never spoke about it afterwards—they closed the door, and that was it. You weren’t taught about grief or how to handle this. Kids didn’t have an opinion. I wasn’t black, I wasn’t white, I was just a girl. That was it—a girl in a different environment, who goes to school and gets called names."
