POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED
I wanted to post this on my profile because the story got so many lovely comments, and I want it to stay here so I can always look back on it. Back in high school, I used to post videos like this on Facebook, but somewhere along the way I deleted them all. Some of you who’ve known me that long told me: “Your voice hasn’t changed at all; you sound just like you did 20 years ago. It was lovely to hear you again.” That almost made me cry. 😭

It’s been about 3 months since I split from my ex-girlfriend. It’s been a rough ride, full of ups and downs. I was a proper dick at times and did things I’m really not proud of, and I’m sorry for that. One of the hardest life lessons is learning to let go and accept when someone’s part in your story has ended. Some people come into your life to wake you up, to show you what still needs healing, and to help you see the patterns you couldn’t see before.

I still miss her sometimes, but the breakup gave me a new perspective and the strength to face my traumas and demons, do better, heal, and, along that journey, do things my way. It wasn’t easy to admit them and fight them, but looking back now, the fear of the fight was greater than the fight itself. That’s usually how life goes: you’re afraid of something until you actually do it and realize it wasn’t that hard.

I read something similar online that stuck with me: “Your worst attempt will outdo your best excuse. Reasonable explanations have never produced unreasonable results. An excuse will protect your image, while an attempt can change your life.”

And that’s the truth. We always want to do something, but we give ourselves an excuse not to. Life’s too short for that. Be who you want and try your best. In the end, no one is watching; you’re only competing with yourself. ❤️

I want to end with a few lines from @1924us, an artist who makes all his artwork by hand. His work gave me light in my darkest hours, so go check him out!

How lucky I am that things didn’t work out.
How lucky I am for all the people still in my life.
How lucky I am to learn from my mistakes.
How lucky I am to feel all of this.
How lucky I am...

❤️❤️

September was kind to me, and I tried to be kind back to it, to myself, and to everyone around me. I'm thankful for everything that has happened in the last couple of months. I've learned a lot, maybe I've grown up a little bit, and honestly, I'm in a place where I like things the way they are.

I read somewhere online:
"Success happens twice: First in the mind, then in the grind."

I would just add: grind, but with kindness and light, and along the way be thankful for what you already have!

Kind reminder to myself:

You don't always get to choose what Life throws at you. Sometimes it's a curveball - a test to see what you've actually learned. And right there, in that moment, you get the one choice that matters: Move on up or stay stuck. It'll be hard, it'll be messy or bumpy and imperfect, but just give your best and rest.
I choose Life, and I'm gratefull to have that option, and I'll continue choosing it every single day.

Special thanks to all my friends and my biggest supporters - my family. Life's good, let's fucking go! :)

Happy Friday!

We separated shortly after this trip. It was messy, ugly, and painful for both of us. I deleted this post right away, trying to erase every memory of us and running from anything that reminded me of her. The sudden, total loss of connection was the most traumatic thing I’ve ever been through.

And I was a dick back then. A proper one, 12/10. Sometimes we hurt the things we love, not because we mean to, but because we mistake gentleness for weakness. “I’m sorry” can’t undo that. But I am sorry, and I hope we both heal.

I want to carry this mistake with me wherever I go and learn from it, while leaving the hurt and pain here, hoping that maybe it was for the best.

That’s why I’m reposting this: to remember the great times and the hard ones, and to never let it happen again.

DJ-ing or recording sets is like telling a story through music. You’re not gonna play a track by Nirvana followed by a track by Norah Jones; or bossanova followed by progressive techno. You could, but you’d either have to be a very skilled storyteller DJ or be ok with perhaps confusing your listeners.

When I used to go to parties, storytelling through music was always the most important part for me. Does it have a beginning, a middle and an end? Or is it just a flat line of similar tracks being lined up one after another? Does it evoke something in me? How does it make me feel?
And I was able to quickly tell whether it was gonna be something that I’ll like, or something unexciting, monotone, and plain boring.
The worse the music would be, the more high I would get, trying to use drugs to induce ANY kind of feeling (and stay awake).

The best sets were always the brave ones, the ones where the DJs used music to take the listeners on a journey, the ones that had a soul, regardless of the genre, the ones that were soft and melodic, even when they simultaneously had a hard, greasy bass. The ones that made you smile and feel happy.

Me and my brother tried to do that with this set we played at THE party of the year. @partykosulja
We put together something that, primarily, we would want to listen to. And now we’re sharing it with all of you who like music, in hope you’ll hear a track you like, one you’ve never heard before, and maybe hear the story we wanted to tell.
