It’s hard to resume a dream… but here goes. If I’d been asked to imagine the perfect place to sing THIS song, and the perfect person to sing it with, this would have likely been the answer (maybe joined by The Dubliners, Shane MacGowen & Jeff Magnum)

Thank you @glenhansard for this lovely moment in my home town, with my family with your wonderful fans. For your kindness and words of advice.

I’ll be returning soon Liverpool for another show hopefully with the full band next time if you want us?

to music and to love

🎥 Bury Me Under The Mersey (Ceol Agus Grá)

Directed by Maud Chalard and Theo Gosselin

>>Best viewed on YouTube for full screen - link in bio<<

This music video is a metaphoric and poetic transcription of Peter Deaves’ song and the impossible friendship story of two soldiers during WW1. One is German, the other one Liverpudlian, and we will follow the last journey of Alf and Franz to their inevitable fate.

Even through adversity, the song and video are a true celebration of life, love and the power of friendship

The story is in part based on Peter’s family history. The video for ‘Bury Me Under The Mersey (Ceol Agus Grá)’ - which means “MUSIC & LOVE” in Irish - illustrates symbolically the lyrics of the song

My disbelief hasn’t really changed since the call this morning; a North Star for many, a hand up on to the boat, a master songs man and bearer of gentle eyes and words to the very very end. Singing this song with you in Saint George’s Hall was the proudest moment of my life. You easily got your 10 great songs that will resonate through the ages; but more than that so many will never forget how you made them feel.

Not great for guitar playing…but I’m finding ways and will be back very shortly. Send me healing thoughts, nutritious recipes and alternative tunings. There are many songs to be sung and put to tape.

Much love

My last night in Cork and @hank_wedel_cork asked myself and @davidjamesmurphymusic to play a couple of songs at the @charliesbarcork Hank and Ray’s Monday session which is now in its 32nd year. A wonderful night of stout, songs and friendship. A fella at the bar told me this was his favourite song in the world - it might well be mine - so this was an easy choice.

Can’t wait to come back; Cork for life now. Will be passing through Dublin on my way back home if anyone knows of something going on. by @peterdeaves
