Dublin, i want to say thank you so much for welcoming me with open arms. i’m at a loss for words after hearing about Glen Hansards passing. my heart is with you all, as we collectively mourn such an incredible man. it’s hard to wrap my head around it, as he was in the room with us just Sunday night at Whelans… it doesn’t feel real. but i can only say i feel unbelievably blessed to have met him and my life has certainly been touched for the better by our short encounter. he greeted me with the kindest eyes as i stepped off the stage, and as we spoke, he exuded such humility, generosity, and love. i understood instantly why he is so cherished by so many, both within and without his music. of course it’s strange to talk about it into this online-abyss, but it would feel more strange to me, not to acknowledge its gravity. many of my friends and colleagues have had much deeper relationships with him, so if you’re one of those people, i’m sending support and strength to you, and to the family ❤️
