Hadara 5, Autumn - Winter 2021, is released today.

In this edition, we contemplate the concept of legacy. In our cover story, Sheikh Abdullah bin Majid Al Qassimi has been leading a renaissance of Arab equestrian heritage in the UAE, with his sons, who compete internationally. Sultan Sooud Al Qassemi and Todd Reisz note the importance of decades-old masterplans in helping structure the growth of Sharjah. Their book, Building Sharjah, weaves nostalgia with an appreciation of Sharjah’s architectural legacy. Artist eL Seed turns to the legacy of Arabic calligraphy to explore new mediums and spread his message of love. Aching with nostalgia of the most Proustian variety is an evocative feature about ka’ak Al Quds, the bread from Jerusalem that transports the Palestinian diaspora home.

Thank you to all the brilliant writers, photographers and illustrators—and the subjects themselves—who brought this edition to life.
