Finally sharing Jenson Revival made during my MA studies at @grafischontwerpgent supervised by Frederik Berlaen @typemytype At the beginning of my mobility semester at LUCA, I started two type projects. One based on decay and typography in the streets of Budapest; the other was a revival based on a typeface by Nicolas Jenson from an old ATF specimen. Somewhere along the way, I completely fell for the revival. What caught my eye were the details like slab-like serifs, quirky punctuation, unusual cuts, and reverse-contrast figures. For other cuts, I also began experimenting with decay through printing and scanning as a performative process inspired by Alvin Lucier’s I Am Sitting in a Room — hopefully sharing the process soon. We’re thrilled to announce two things: 1. We have a wonderful new visual identity. 2. We’re very happy to welcome our new graphic designer, Péter Tóth, to the Blue Sun family - the person behind it. Peti is an amazing young talent whose approach fits our eclectic, multi-art vision wonderfully. He has created numerous music artworks and event posters, while also being involved in music and dance himself. He has already worked on two Blue Sun record designs: Réti Virág’s ‘Peremidő’ and Hakumba’s ‘The Garden’. Our logo has been redesigned as well, while still representing the same - for us highly symbolic - object: the egg chair. Why the egg chair? It’s a beautiful piece of design that reflects our commitment to thoughtful and carefully considered aesthetics, but it also represents a place where you can comfortably sit down and simply listen to (listening) music. Our visual identity may have changed, but what we do remains the same: finding and presenting some of the finest listening music out there - through releases, mixes, and events. Type Specimen for BETU by @bobbej. „BETU is a wireframe based typeface.
