We’re thrilled to announce two things: 1. We have a wonderful new visual identity. 2. We’re very happy to welcome our new graphic designer, Péter Tóth, to the Blue Sun family - the person behind it. Peti is an amazing young talent whose approach fits our eclectic, multi-art vision wonderfully. He has created numerous music artworks and event posters, while also being involved in music and dance himself. He has already worked on two Blue Sun record designs: Réti Virág’s ‘Peremidő’ and Hakumba’s ‘The Garden’. Our logo has been redesigned as well, while still representing the same - for us highly symbolic - object: the egg chair. Why the egg chair? It’s a beautiful piece of design that reflects our commitment to thoughtful and carefully considered aesthetics, but it also represents a place where you can comfortably sit down and simply listen to (listening) music. Our visual identity may have changed, but what we do remains the same: finding and presenting some of the finest listening music out there - through releases, mixes, and events. Stay tuned, we have some other very exciting things to announce very soon! Typeface by @charlotte__rohde Design by @peti__toth

OUT NOW! As summer unfolds, Erol Leen's Dream Wash EP drifts into the sun-soaked world of Balearica. The four-track EP channels the spirit of José Padilla, DJ Alfredo and the golden-era Café del Mar compilations, while remaining deeply personal. Recorded around a beachside campfire in Turkey, Dream Wash draws inspiration from the Mediterranean through lush pads, gentle rhythms, field recordings, birdsong and the sound of waves, inviting the listener on a semi-imaginary coastal voyage. At the heart of the EP lies the Arturia CZ V synth, chosen as a tribute to one of Erol's greatest inspirations: Satoshi & Makoto's cult ambient masterpiece CZ-5000 Sounds & Sequences. Together with delicate string passages and carefully captured environmental recordings, the result is exactly what Erol set out to create: "A soundscape for floating and daydreaming." From today, Dream Wash is available on Bandcamp, SoundCloud, and all major streaming platforms. If you'd like to support both the artist and the Blue Sun label in the most meaningful way, purchasing the EP on Bandcamp makes the biggest difference. Pulling back the curtain: the first release in the new Blue Series is a six-track experimental ambient EP by Budapest-based multimedia artist Virág Réti, who debuted on the label last year with ‘Bíbic’ on the Blue Sun VA II compilation. Virág’s second EP and first physical release [12” vinyl], Peremidő [Liminal Time], traces the arc of a single day, beginning with the hesitant sounds of early morning and gradually moving toward more defined, rhythm-driven forms. Airy textures slowly give way to structure as percussion comes to the forefront and the sense of direction becomes clearer. Beneath this progression lies a deep personal attachment to water and open space. The EP’s motifs point back to a childlike state of clarity and to early memories of sitting by the water, simply observing time pass. Her legal name is so distinctive that she hardly needed to search for an alias: Virág means “flower” in Hungarian, while Réti translates to “of the meadow.” Alongside this, the folk names of insects and birds recur throughout the track titles, reflecting her instinctive pull toward nature as a place of refuge from Eastern European urban life, and her habit of watching clouds and birds as a way to escape the city’s noise. The EP will be released digitally on April 20, with the 12” vinyl becoming available for the first time at the release event at Nº space, Budapest on April 24, and later distributed across local and European record stores by Rush Hour. Hakumba’s fresh jazz EP, The Garden, is now available on all streaming platforms alongside Bandcamp. Add it to your playlists, take it on the go, or simply enjoy a walk in The Garden. For record collectors and merch enthusiasts: the vinyl edition is now up for pre-order on our Bandcamp page - don’t sleep on it. With this release, the 11-piece ensemble opens a new chapter in their musical journey. The material leans toward a more jazz-oriented direction, with complex harmonies and an almost cinematic, dreamlike atmosphere - gently stepping away from (yet not entirely leaving behind) their previously emphasized, dance-driven Afro- and Latino roots. Like the band’s previous album, the EP was recorded, mixed and mastered by András Weil, producer of The Qualitons – the only Hungarian band ever to play live at KEXP – preserving Hakumba’s recognizable sonic identity while allowing new colours and more intricate musical ideas to emerge. Written & performed by: ● Soma Számel – drums ● Endre Szép – bass ● Imre Hegedűs – guitar ● Zalán Bendegúz Huff – guitar, vocals ● Csongor Mari – keys ● Noel Nagy – percussion, vocals ● Dorka Foster – flute, vocals ● Kristóf Szabó – alto sax ● Alpár Sikó – tenor sax ● Gáspár Simon – trumpet ● András Téglásy – baritone sax ● Endre Kertész – cello ● Balázs Pattantyús – viola Produced, recorded, mixed and mastered by András Weil Recorded at Galyatető, Hungary Artwork by Eszter Lukács Graphic design by Péter Tóth Manufactured by AD Records Distributed by Rush Hour Released under the Blue Sun Link in bio...
