Our chapter had a really busy April (in all the best ways)! We had the honor of tabling at the San Gabriel Valley Lantern Festival, Cherry Blossom Festival, and San Gabriel High School’s “Coming Out of the Shadows” event. Then, we ended the month with our annual Spring BBQ, which was full of great food and great company. We are looking forward to this year’s Pride season and are excited to share what we will be up to in the coming months.

On Sunday, August 16th, PFLAG SGV API marched with the API Rainbow Coalition in the Nisei Week Parade, alongside @okaeri.community , @vietrainbowoc, and other friends — the first time LGBTQ+ support for the API and Nikkei community has been represented in this beloved parade's history.

Marching together in Little Tokyo, we showed up for our API and Nikkei families with visible, vocal support. We're proud to have stood in this milestone moment, and grateful to everyone who marched and cheered it on.

We were thrilled to welcome more than 40 attendees for an honest, heartfelt conversation about love, acceptance, and what it means to truly show up for trans kids. The stories, support, and community in the room were a powerful reminder that these conversations matter.

Every family's journey is unique. Join us for Asian Fathers of Trans Kids: Their Journeys to Love and Acceptance, a meaningful community conversation where Asian fathers share their personal stories of learning, growth, and embracing their transgender children.

We will be hearing from a 3rd generation Japanese-Korean dad, 2 Chinese-American dads, and a Korean dad.
