“Over a million people participate in San Francisco’s Pride Festival celebrating the city’s past and present queer community,” the letter reads. “The actions of four San Francisco Giants pitchers, who registered opposition to LGBTQ+ people’s very existence on Pride Night — and the laissez-faire response by team leadership — are deeply hurtful to our families and a rejection of the city and fans they should be uplifting.”

“We ask that the organization do more than issue a bland statement about ‘anger and pain,’” the letter from LGBTQ+ groups reads. “This harm is bigger than that. You brought gay couples on the field on Friday to renew their vows, sharing their most intimate and meaningful moments with the Giants community. And then you allowed messages on official Giants uniform from a group that believes those very marriages are sinful. Does the hypocrisy not register?”

The group goes on to ask the Giants to reach out to families in the LGBTQ+ community and offer a meeting to listen to why what happened Friday matters.

“Only then can we consider the process of repair and healing, which will require substantive efforts to change the culture in the clubhouse and on the field in a way that reflects and respects the community that invests the Giants with cultural relevance, as well as pays their salaries,” the letter continued. “Short of that, as painful as it is for kids who were raised on baseball, we will have no choice but to change our relationship to the team and encourage others to do the same.” Thank you @pflag_trivalley @pflagsjp @pflagfremont @pflagsanjose @pflaglamorinda @ebstonewalldems @calnurses by @pflagsjp

‼️ ACTION ALERT: Contact Governor Newsom @gavinnewsom at (916) 445-2841 and tell him how you feel about his legitimization of anti-trans extremist views in his new podcast.

The truth is, trans kids and trans people are not a threat. Politicians who use trans people as a political football ARE. The decision by Newsom to so loudly break with his support for the LGBTQ+ community will have real-world repercussions for actual human beings.

More than trans folk are affected by the inflammatory rhetoric that Newsom has now given voice to. If the dignity, rights, and sheer humanity of trans people are up for debate in the public sphere, then your rights are not far behind.

Light those phones up, y’all. ☎️ 🏳️‍⚧️✊🏽

Mark your calendars for a transformative evening on Tuesday, March 18, at 7:00 PM (PST)! We are thrilled to host an enlightening online presentation, “Gender 101: Beyond the Binary.”
Understanding and supporting our gender-diverse community is more important than ever. This workshop will help equip us with knowledge and tools to make a positive difference. Our guest speakers are a couple of passionate advocates and educators from sister PFLAG chapters in the Bay Area. They will guide us through the essentials of inclusive language, correct terminology, and simple, actionable changes we can make to foster environments where everyone is valued, seen, and supported.
This is an opportunity to expand our understanding and learn how to be an active ally. Whether you’re new to these topics or looking to deepen your allyship, this session will offer valuable insights.
The presentation will last about an hour and will include time for Q&A.
