Earlier today we kicked off the 68th Annual Washington International Horse Show at the Show Place Arena, and it was a beautiful moment for Prince George’s County. Equestrian life has deep roots here, and we are excited to welcome riders, families, and fans from around the world as the events begin this week.

Thank you to Ms. Sheila Curry for her incredible leadership and to the WIHS team for continuing to choose Prince George’s County. Today’s gathering set the tone for an amazing week ahead.

We are proud to host this celebration of horsemanship, community, and our equestrian heritage. Welcome to Prince George’s County. We can’t wait to see everyone here.

This morning was a beautiful moment in Prince George’s County. I joined our amazing business owners, builders, and entrepreneurs at the Build Prince George’s Summit at Sandlot Largo. It felt special to celebrate this new venue right across the street from the Wayne K. Curry Administration Building, a place that represents so much of our County’s progress.

Thank you to Banneker Ventures and the Build Prince George’s network for creating a gathering that brings people together and shows what is possible when vision meets community.

Prince George’s County is growing in powerful ways. New spaces, new partnerships, and new opportunities are taking shape all around us, and events like this remind me how much talent and creativity we have right here at home. This is what economic momentum looks like.

Sandlot Largo and the Promenade at Lottsford reflect the kind of growth we believe in. Growth that is intentional, community-centered, and focused on shared prosperity. Our local businesses deserve to benefit from the opportunities rising across our County.

Today reminded me that Prince George’s County is not just building structures. We are building a future. And we are building it together.

Every mile of the Purple Bike Ride tells a story.

A story of survival.
A story of courage.

A story of a community that refuses to stay silent.

This weekend, Prince George’s County rode for every survivor who has fought to reclaim their voice and their future. Thank you to the families, advocates, and partners who continue to stand with us. Your commitment saves lives.

Today is National Coming Out Day. We honor everyone who chooses to share their truth in the way that feels right for them. Every journey is personal, and every person deserves safety, dignity, and acceptance.

Yesterday stayed with me.

Walking through the shelter as a fur mommy, I felt every paw and every quiet stare. Animals trust us completely, and that trust deserves real care.

This week, a special dog named Beau helped save a missing child with special needs. A hero. A reminder of how deeply animals show up for us and how much love they give without asking for anything back.

Seeing the improvements in our shelter meant something real. Safer spaces. Cleaner rooms. A place where staff and volunteers can breathe and regroup. Care that honors the dignity every animal deserves.

If you are looking for your next fur baby or companion, you can find them at princegeorgespets4us.com. Your next hero might be waiting there.

🐾💚 MORE ROOM. SAFER SPACES. BETTER CARE.

Today, Prince George’s County celebrated the completion of Phase I improvements at the Prince George's County Animal Shelter—a milestone in strengthening care for the animals who depend on us!

Approximately $1.7 million in upgrades will support daily care and help pets connect with loving homes. Improvements include permanent kennels with capacity for 14 additional dogs, new cat interaction rooms where prospective adopters can meet feline companions, improved animal housing, and expanded laundry and cleaning equipment.

Renovated staff and volunteer spaces also support the dedicated people behind that care. A heartfelt thank-you to our team for keeping animals cared for throughout construction—and for the compassion and commitment they bring every day.

A special thank-you to County Executive Aisha N. Braveboy for joining us at today’s ceremony and for her continued leadership in strengthening County services and helping elevate Prince George’s County.

We also thank DoE Director Dr. Samuel Moki for making these improvements a priority from day one and for his continued leadership in strengthening animal care and guiding the Department forward.

Each improvement helps us better serve our animals and the community as we work toward more happy beginnings. 🏡🐶🐱

I appreciate hearing directly from our Prince George’s County business community about Sphere and the opportunities it may create. Carri Robinson shared her perspective as a local entrepreneur, and I value every voice contributing to this conversation.

The new Margaret Brent Elementary School shows what is possible when our educators, families, community partners, PGCPS leadership, and local officials work together with one shared purpose: creating learning spaces that match the potential of our children.

I am grateful to our students, families, teachers, Board of Education members, PGCPS leadership, and our partners at Plenary America and Progressive Education Partners for bringing this vision to life. This state-of-the-art campus was built with intention, creativity, and care. It is a place designed to support wellness, exploration, and the imagination of every learner who walks through its doors.

Schools like this move Prince George’s County forward, and I am proud of what we are building together.
