Henry Packard White founded HP White Laboratory in 1936 with the goal of becoming the world’s leading ballistics laboratory and he did just that. HP White has been at the forefront of many of the current ballistics standards for 84 years until the lab ceased all operations in 2020. HP White has participated in numerous historic events during the past 84 years, such as the speed at which John F. Kennedy’s killer could shoot three rounds at a moving target in. Ultimately the money needed for renovations was too much, along with the affects of the Covid-19 pandemic which caused HP White laboratory to close its doors. As of last year a new company has taken over the property and it is no longer vacant. The office of the medical director to this psychiatric hospital was insane. This room was filled with all sorts of antique medical equipment such as the 1940s electroconvulsive machine shown in slide 5. Words cannot describe how massive of a behemoth this vessel was. You could spend an entire day inside of here and still miss sections of it, it was like a mini city. Good ole Wayne County pre demolition, man this place was something else. Almost every cell had some sort of neat drawing, and damn some of them were absolutely insane. Place had full power, old panic alarms going off, and even the tv’s still worked. This spots a special one for me. Ever since I truly delved into exploring the unknown this spot has always been up there on the list. I remember watching all sorts of videos on this state hospital back when I was a kid and seeing it in person finally was an absolutely surreal experience. I used to be infatuated with liminal spaces and the lore they had so seeing the smile room in person was a must. It took a little while but after some time stumbling around in the dark basement absolutely geeked off a 12 pack of Sammy’s and some Joshℒ️ my boy @asbestosking01 and I finally found the infamous smile room. I couldn’t tell you if it was the brews or the location (probably a bit of both) I was beyond ecstatic. We were in that room for hours just absolutely geeking out that we finally found the smile room. Definitely one of my most fun and memorable explores. This abandoned retro diner is easily one of the most unique spot’s I’ve seen to date. This place was filled with all sorts of neon lights, luckily quite a few of them still work.
