Rocket from the Tombs- Live at the Agora (fan club). One half begat the Dead Boys, the other Pere Ubu (both bands took the songs with them); guitarist Peter Laughner was a liver damaged young tragedy; Rocket from the Crypt's moniker was a homage- Cleveland punk ground zero!! A combustible musical allegiance combining the raw power of the Stooges/MC5 with the art smarts of Beefheart and not long for this world. The Life Stinks boot and subsequent official The Day the Earth Met... retrospective seemed to be the last word on them but here you go- the complete live set from 5/5/75, broadcast on the radio, recorded by future Pere Ubu/DNA bassist Tim Wright, and now decades later available for your aural consumption. There's a little bit of overlap with the other releases but mostly this is unheard (by these ears at least)!! $24.98 by @philarecx

Beachwolf & The Gulf of Mexico- s/t (Maize-y). Newest from in-house label Maize-y and its mellifulous sounds could not possibly be further from the deep fried noise choogle of previous release Boogie Witch. This is self-described "post yacht rock" and, while smooth it is indeed, to these ears there are more aspects that sound like a modern continuation of the deeply dreamy melancholy languor of Beach Boys' Surfs Up. Throw in the silkiness of late period Roxy Music and you are good to go. Not the usual fare here to be sure but if the coolly tranquil beckons this is for you. $21.98 by @philarecx

2 new ones from An'Archives, the great French label devoted to nobly documenting tentacles of the modern adventurous Japanese underground ignored elsewhere. All of their releases are fucking gorgeous, with screened covers, obis, art postcards, liner notes- exquisite! 1) La Scéne- Futaishitsu Souzou. 3 lengthy songs that start off by taking late night smokey blues of a Mazzy Starian nature with the deliberate pace and heft of Codeine before erupting into some blinding white light guitar oblivion. The remainder gets into more Shizuka-esque slow moving blasted balladry with an all-consuming guitar that should make Maki Miura himself doff a pint in appreciation. Some even calls to mind the sadly departed Heron Oblivion, always a good thing in my book. 2) Archeus- Spiral Code. Trio/quartet improv that goes from sparse and creepy to busy and fiendish. To be honest this kind of thing is impossible to evaluate in these circumstances (shop open, phone ringing, "customers" idly browsing)- these sounds are just not gonna get the attention they deserve. Will just put it out there that the instruments used are voice, drums, trombone, bass, hurdy gurdy, percussion, and darbuka and you can decide if this is a path to walk down. $29.98 each. by @philarecx

BAGS!! Have not had any sort of tote bag for far too long so here you go!! Brand new (old) artwork by Mark Dancey (you may remember this as a t shirt design back in the days of the old shop), whose visual work graced 90's touchstones such as post-Necros rockers Big Chief (of which he was also a member), the pages of Motorbooty fanzine, and the cover of Soundgarden's Badmotorfinger. And now it can be emblazoned upon your shoulder as you saunter or scurry throughout the city, carrying up to 30 records! Stylishness and utility combine into one hell of a product. $18 by @philarecx

Willie Lane- Known Quantity/ Guitar Army of One/ A Pine Tree Shilling's Worth (Feeding Tube). Sublime rippling solo guitar taking a foundation in folk/blues forms but pulsating outward into multitracked fx-drenched wavering psychedelia where melodies and watery atmospherics combine. Willie was once a Proud Philadelphian, and these three records, originally released on his Cord-Art imprint from 2009-2016, effectively mark his time as a local. Feeding Tube reissued these during our recent plague years and now they are back in stock at "the nice price." Cover art by yours truly. $14.98 each. by @philarecx

SOLD OUT The Modern Lovers- A Vacant Stare: 1971-1973 (fan club). BACK IN STOCK! MONUMENTAL!! A sublimely inspired fan club done right, this is a collection of the earliest unheard demos of the REAL Modern Lovers from 4 different sessions, including the Cale and Fowley recordings (but NOT takes that were released on either the s/t nor Original Modern Lovers)!! Some of this is even early enough to include future Real Kid John Felice on second guitar! This is basically an alternate world reimagining of the s/t but with the sequence arranged chronologically by recording date. Post- VU lovesick straight edge suburban rock of the highest key. It is inconceivable that anyone would be let down by this. Colossally reccomended!! Few bucks more this time around, our apologies. $31.98 NO MAILORDER, SORRY by @philarecx

Eraser- Operator! (Siltbreeze). Eraser's debut was taut postpunk in the grand tradition of Rough Trade touchstones like Delta 5. This one actually ups the ante in terms of full band dynamics. The unhinged moments are more unhinged, the rhythms are more insistent in an ESG/Konkish fashion, the guitar hits on some acid psychy moves, and the synth peppers the mix like the spawn of Allen Ravenstine and Ping Romany. $19.98 by @philarecx

Susanne Lewis-s/t (Concentric Circles). Of all modern reissue labels CC remains the most consistently why-have-I-never-even-heard-of-this of them all. Susanne Lewis! Who? A brief online search reveals her going back to the early 80's, with involvement in stoned fuzz 4 tracker Azalia Snail, US RiO practitioners Thinking Plague, and Denver's massive audio/visual soundscapers Biota!! Hell of a resume! This particular release however was her lone solo album, originally released in the non-righteous year of 2000. On the surface it's very approachable indie folk pop. The Flying Nun-esque light jangle and sweet voice is not a million miles from the undisputed queen of that sound, Barbara Manning. And there's also some elements of the prog/folk that Mary Timony explored on Mountains, a record that happened to also come out that same year. But her experimental pedigree is in there too, sometimes with overtly odd sounds thrown in but also in the genuinely swirling atmosphere some of the songs develop into. This is NOT one to idly check out sporadic tracks- must be fully absorbed as a whole!!! I did so twice in a row this morning while enjoying coffee. $23.98 by @philarecx

Go-Betweens!!!!! Australia's finest musical export in particular and a shining ray of hope for repulsive humanity in general, long out of print and basically unavailable in America even on the secondary markets these days but miraculously reissued for your listening pleasure. Liberty Belle and the Black Diamond Express, Talulah, 16 Lovers Lane, and ( the unreleased live album!!) Fountains of Youth (Beggars Banquet). Pristine chiming guitar pop of the highest caliber singing songs of quiet character studies in a magically calm fashion that combines small detail with huge hooks. Every single release of their initial 1980's run is completely essential with zero diminishing of songwriting quality. By the time of Libery Belle the recordings may have gotten a little slicker but still remain a pure rock band with a bearable amount of concession to dreaded period tech. The one sonic difference from the earlier sound is Talulah's introduction of multi-instrumentalist Ananda Brown, who doesn't reshape their sound as much as just add new textures to it. $24.98 each. But the big surprise here is the existence of the long-rumored live album. It was professionally recorded in 87 for an intended proper release but inexplicably shelved. A fantastic sounding trawl through mostly contemporaneous material. Need a gift for the fan who has everything? They do not have this!! 2xlp $39.98 by @philarecx

The Dead C- Harsh 70's Reality (Siltbreeze). Had assumed this was out of print but no! Still available!! Ugly feedback rock behemoths deliver a massive double lp and all rejoice. Opener "Driver UFO" starts things off with a side-long lurch through tape fuckery, guitar scrape, and synth blurt. Despite devoting the past 30(!!!) years to improvisational riffery you must remember that at one point they wrote deformed yet memorable actual SONGS and that's what you get for the following 3 sides. Heaving rock gnarl at its finest. Remastered for extra bass oomph. 2xlp $31.98 by @philarecx

Should- Feel Like Fishes (Numero). Reissue of an obscurity (to me, at least) based out of State College, PA during the mid-90's era of Art Monk Construction but seemingly unrelated to that scene. Well college town and all that, probably lots of stuff going on. Anyway. This is very good "dreamgaze". It's like a mixture of the haziest Yo La Tengo with the sparse dreaminess of Escame the Photon Band-era Lilys with the wistful daze of Hydroplane with-and this is perhaps a bit of a stretch- the stubby fuzz DIY ethereality of Charalambides circa Our Bed is Green. There are some genuine songs in here as well as more atmospheric experiments. Hey, live a little by taking a chance (or listening for free online, however you choose to go through life). 2xlp $32.98 by @philarecx
