Where should you invest, partner, or direct development resources to create the greatest impact across Nigeria’s states?

For investors and development partners, navigating Nigeria’s subnational landscape requires more than identifying promising opportunities.

It requires reliable evidence to understand state performance, assess fiscal sustainability, identify emerging progress and determine where interventions can deliver the greatest value.

The 2026 Phillips Consulting State Performance Index (pSPI) provides data-backed insights to help you look beyond assumptions, understand the realities across states and make better-informed decisions about where and how to engage.

Meaningful impact begins with informed choices. Let the pSPI be your compass to navigate opportunities, direct resources strategically and support the policies, partnerships and investments that move Nigeria’s states forward.

An Organisation’s strategy can look great on paper and still change very little in practice.

When growth targets and strategic priorities fail to deliver expected results, the challenge often lies in execution; where competing priorities, slow decision-making and unclear accountability can hinder progress.

Closing this gap requires more than a good strategy. It requires an organisation equipped to turn strategic priorities into measurable results.

So, what does it take to build an organisation that can consistently turn strategic intent into measurable outcomes?

This article highlights:
• Why sound strategies often fail to translate into business results

• The execution capabilities that create clarity, accountability and momentum

• How top organisations are embedding execution in their strategies

A little throwback to when we stepped away from the work and just enjoyed being together.

Good food, good conversations, plenty of laughs and a much-needed reminder that there’s more to a team than deadlines and deliverables.

Here’s to the moments in between work.

Nigeria’s economy is growing. But is its workforce keeping up?

The economy grew by 3.9% in the first half of 2025, driven by growth across services, non-oil industries, agriculture, alongside accelerating technology adoption.

But there’s still a gap. As organisations adopt new technologies and pursue new opportunities, the skills needed to support that growth remain in short supply.

From cybersecurity and AI to leadership, strategic problem-solving and green energy, the challenge is no longer simply finding people. It is having the right capabilities in the right places to turn growth opportunities into results.

With 28 million jobs in Nigeria expected to require digital skills by 2030, the question is becoming harder to ignore: Are organisations building the capabilities they will need for what comes next?

In this article, we look at:
• The critical skills Nigeria’s workforce is currently lacking
• Where these skills gaps intersect with the sectors driving Nigeria’s economic growth
• The emerging roles organisations need to start preparing their people for today

The 2026 pSPI brings a broader view of state performance into focus, measuring not only where states stand today, but also the momentum behind their progress since the last edition.

Key areas such as infrastructure and education recorded improved satisfaction, while employment records the lowest level of satisfaction.

For states, this provides more than a ranking. It creates a benchmark for understanding where performance is improving, where gaps remain and where attention and investment may be needed.

With this benchmark, states can better assess their current position, identify priorities and make decisions with a clearer view of where progress is needed.

Looking to understand how your state is performing?

A look back at some of the people, moments and work that made UNGA 81 a memorable and impactful event for Phillips consulting.

At UNGA 81 in New York, pcl. brought local intelligence and practical understanding to global stakeholders seeking to engage with Nigeria, connecting the wider investment conversation with the realities of doing business in the country.

From the Doing Business with the Nigerian Government session, which unpacked the institutions, agencies and processes international partners need to navigate, to engagements with business and policy leaders, pcl. brought the realities of Nigeria’s operating environment into the wider global dialogue.

Together, these engagements reflected a core part of pcl.’s work: bringing local intelligence, evidence and practical understanding into decisions around Nigeria.

From the conversations around government and investment to the broader exchange of ideas across the African business landscape, the pcl. team was right at the heart of the work.
