Philly’s newest (and cheapest) omakase is $68 for 15 courses at @oroshisushi425 in Center City. They’ve also got a 10-course lunch for $48.

It’s a welcome addition to our growing, ever-competitive sushi scene. They’ve only been open a few months, but the 10-seat counter was completely full when we went. Every piece of nigiri came dressed up - a soy glaze, a bold topping, sometimes a quick torch. There’s dining room seating too if you’d rather order à la carte. And it’s BYOB!!

Solid pick if you’re trying omakase for the first time, casually craving sushi or want a light dinner before a night out. Left pleasantly full.

This 18-course omakase tucked into the basement counter at @kissho.house in Rittenhouse just made it into my top 5 best omakases in the city.

Chef Jeff Chen has been cutting fish for 23 years (started at 19 working at his uncle’s restaurant) and you can taste every detail of his craft: warm-pressed rice portioned perfectly depending on your fullness level, high-quality fish flown in from Japan and freshly grated wasabi.

Standout bites include the toro + ikura + Hokkaido uni rice waffle 🤤, squid noodles in a martini glass with a soy-marinated yolk, the seared hamachi with truffle, every bite of nigiri and the bounciest, slightly sweet yet savory tamago to close. Quietly one of the best $150 spends in Philly right now.

@izzys_ardmore in Ardmore might be one of the best lowkey sushi date night spots on our radar.

super intimate, dimly lit and feels special without trying too hard. cocktails are just as good as the food, and they’re always switching things up so it’s worth going back to try new menu items.

for my city peeps— it’s a quick 2-minute walk from the Ardmore station or there’s easy street parking.

Kuro in @hardrockhcac is THE spot if you’re looking for a quality, vibey sushi dinner before a show, a night out or hitting the casino floor 🎰

They’re fully leaning into spring with a seasonal menu and a dining room wrapped in pink blooms 🌸

Standouts: Wagyu nigiri that literally dissolved in my mouth, a lineup of incredibly fresh nigiri (just go omakase and let chef take care of you) and a dangerously good lychee martini.

A must-hit every time we’re in AC. Keep doing your thing, @cheflesliedaniel 🫡

Caviar, uni and salmon roe special from @saophilly tonight, inspired by when Chef @philapans and Rachel first met at a beloved sushi restaurant in Rittenhouse!!

@tunabarphl in Old City during the warmer months is such a vibe. We dined outside last night and ordered a few staples — miso soup, spicy tuna crispy rice, shishito peppers and an assortment of maki. Chef Kenneth Sze has been running this restaurant for almost a decade, and it’s one of those places that just consistently delivers.

PRO TIP: If you’re getting a spicy tuna, add oshinko (pickled radish) for an extra crunch and flavor. And get ALL your rolls cut into 8 pieces instead of 6. Smaller bites = your brain thinking you have more sushi 🙃

@dawafishtown hands down has the BEST spicy tuna roll in the city. Fresh bluefin tuna roughly chopped and mixed with spicy mayo, scallions, tobiko and wasabi. It’s crave-able, satisfying and something I could easily eat everyday, no problem.
