One lamp, many looks.

It’s nice to finally share this build, as it’s been in the works for almost 6 months now being part of the Bambu Labs R1 laser launch.

It’s made from maple hardwood and laser-cut acrylic, with a few modular 3D-printed components tying it all together, letting me swap in multiple lampshade designs.

It’s also the first thing I’ve built that can be fully assembled and disassembled with just an Allen key.

Also sleeve nuts could be my new favourite nut , they just look so clean from both ends. 🔩

Oh, you meant what job…

I’m almost 26 and I still can’t answer that question. My interests and ambitions change by the second.

At 18, I picked a career in IT and ended up ditching that at 23.

I then chose to start a furniture business, but three years on, I now make more videos than I do furniture and have become a “content creator.”

Who knows what I’ll be doing in three more years.

The rush and expectation to have it all figured out is so overrated and can be counterproductive, especially if you’re like me and chose something you thought you were meant to do rather than wanted to do.

Pick what you’re currently interested in, see where it takes you, and be open to those interested changing.

If I’ve learnt anything it’s that when I’ve listened to my changing interests and followed them it’s often lead me to the best opportunity’s and experiences I’ve ever had.

untitled_industrial_lamp.f3d

I’ve been obsessed with designing modern industrial lamps which don’t actually look like lamps, and this is my latest idea.

Something I’ve always wanted to try is acrylic bending and this design could be the perfect opportunity to give it a go as it has this yellow wrap-around casing.

Best life choice I’ve even made.

Betting on myself and my ideas gave me the creative life I have today.

The world needs more Artists, designers, makers and creators. Because without them I think it would be a very cold and boring place.

I wanted to make a post focusing on the base and stem of this build, because it was the part of the build that took the longest.

It had quite a few bits of hand-cut joinery including a fairly complex joint holding the base and stem together.

Idk what I’d do without CAD.

Only 36% of a UK business energy bill is the cost of electricity itself.

He pulled his own bill apart to find out where the other 64% goes: network charges, government policy costs, tax, and supplier margin.

Acrylic vs 3D printed Diffusers…

There are many ways to diffuse light each with their own unique properties. 3D printing is unique because of the way you can create and customise a textured look!

Next on my list to try, is using an opaque filament to see if a similar more matt effect can be achieved…

And I ain’t stopping…

My next project is also a LAMP. In fact all my projects this year have been LAMPS or had some form of lighting feature.

Next on my list to try is creating a universal pendant fitting/adapter that I can use for all my projects. At the moment I mostly use a LED strip and driver pairing but that’s not always the best choice.
