In case you missed it, I recently posted my first “concert review” on The Slutlord Supplement - perhaps less of a review than an attempt to convey the sheer magic that was bearing witness to a @phipps.pt performance, the opening act ahead of @ffrith7’s first Vancouver gig in over twenty years. It is a rare joy to encounter sensuality and femininity in the world of experimental music and I am here for it, every time.

Just published: an interview with Phipps Pt., the Bay Area duo of Lovage Sharrock and Jon Leidecker (aka Wobbly), whose album ‘Songs We No Longer Sing’ was one of my favorite discoveries of 2025.

I loved hearing from the two of them about intermingling their two very different practices: Lovage is a guitarist and songwriter, Jon is a computer musician. Over a decade-long span, the two moved from a “writer-producer” relationship toward a genuine collaborative process, cemented together by live performance. It’s a really cool story to match an absolutely beautiful record.

On the evening of Friday, November 14th, Working Name Studios presents a double release show for Agnes Martian’s Elsewhere (Centripetal Force, 11/14/2025) and Phipps Pt.’s Songs We No Longer Sing (SEELAND RECORDS, 10/31/2025), with an opening set of new solo piano compositions by David Golightly.

The Oakland based artists all share an affinity for deconstructive approaches to familiar forms to and for creating singular, immersive sound worlds. The stunning setting of First Presbyterian Church of Oakland is a perfect compliment to the cosmic explorations of the inner and outer at the core of these artists.

Honored to be hosting this evening of not only breathtaking work, but also of dear friends and community.

For this show, we’ll be doing a sliding scale, $10 - $30. Tickets are available on our website, with a link in our bio.

it took a decade (and so much help—thank you, my dear ones) to release, and there is a complicated sense of loneliness letting SWNLS loose, but when the time to share arrives, objects can’t exist inside

so off they go to live among new ears and vinyl friends and make mistakes and maybe one day they’ll write home with pictures by @phipps.pt

it bridges three songs from both PHIPPS PT. studio albums (because, why not)

jeanette plays a spell who develops agency. but ofc, with freedom comes choice and a void before creation

from the chaos our spell recognizes her power to contribute to the future, and like both bow and arrow, she pulls herself taut to move 🏹
