Friday night: Hana Stretton and Phipps Pt grace The Lab with an array of songs interwoven into field recordings, live electronics, and much else. Hana Stretton + Phipps Pt. Fri, Oct. 16 at 8pm Tickets in bio ~~ Hana Stretton is a British/Australian composer, singer and producer known for her remarkably warm production style and uniquely spacious songform. In 2023, her debut album, Soon, earned a beloved status among discerning listeners around the globe. This stunning work caught the ear of one Phil Elverum, who lovingly reissued Soon through his own label in 2024, furthering the album’s reach and deepening its reputation. In the press, Elverum said: “I hear an artist who has entered completely into the stream where creation originates […] Hana Stretton has truly recorded the deep flourishing sound of a quiet listening mind in full blossom.” A fitting testament to a young artist rooted in the stillness of nature. From the dusty Australian bushland on Soon, Stretton transports the listener to the Pacific Ocean on her new album, tiarn (set to be released summer 2026). Shifting gradually like a shoreline, her new compositions reveal welcomed hints of classical and electronic flourishes. Phipps Pt. is the duo project of songwriter and artist Lovage Sharrock and electronic musician Jon Leidecker (Wobbly, Negativland). Falling somewhere between precise songcraft and free improvisation, acid folk and ambient electronics, the music they create is an ongoing conversation between two singular artists and longtime friends listening and responding to one another with care and curiosity.

Headed back to my old haunt, San Francisco ///Playing @kilowatt_bar_sf this Sunday 10/18 w @phipps.pt and @black__thumb, MATINEE SHOW 1:30-5PM. I lived in SF from 95-99, it’s where I brought my first acoustic guitar and taught myself how to first write my first folk songs while exploring the drones and angularity of lowercase. Wandered the streets often, stumbling over H balloons and chain-smoking cigarettes, broke as fuck, devouring any French absurdist texts I could get my hands on, avoiding BJM like the plague, yet still partaking in the Valerian Tea rituals at Star Cleaners, scouring the Cow Palace flea and Subway Gtrs, working at the Opera Plaza Cinemas for less than minimum wage. Come relive the romance with me! The show is FREE and early, so really I’m just competing against church. Let’s continue the SELL OUT Streak! RSVP link in Bio.

Friends! Here are all the dates for the IW Acoustic Obscura Tour 2026 - swipe through for cities. These are going to be really special shows. I’ll be playing solo acoustic, revisiting my music through the years, some new songs off my forthcoming EP ‘demon’s way’, maybe some covers, maybe some stories. Think of it like the ‘greatest hits you’ve never heard’ tour!!! Ticket links in bio. Some truly amazing artists will be opening these shows, so come out if you are around. There’s nothing we need more in the world of music right now than the experience of hearing and seeing it live…if you feel so inclined It would mean so much if you could help spread the news far and wide, since I don’t have publicist and I’m running my own label at a time where corporate rock still sucks. Pleased to announce the IW “Acoustic Obscura Tour”2026!!!! This has been a long time coming…I am going on the road in October as a solo psychedelic troubadour. FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Dubbed as the “Acoustic Obscura Tour,” Imaad Wasif (lowercase, alaska! & yeah yeah yeahs) announces a 2026 tour of the West Coast, doing what he does best - playing intimate venues and performing stripped down solo acoustic versions of his songs. He’ll explore music from his whole catalog, all the solo albums and beyond, including a new EP ‘Demon’s Way.’ “I’m trying to reconnect to the embryonic pure state, outside of all the insanity of the world right now. This is the most vulnerable thing I can do in front of an audience. I’m leaning farther into the traditions of dark folk.” 10/10 Los Angeles, CA at @philosophical_research_society w/ @baldwin_unlimited 10/18 San Francisco, CA @kilowatt_bar_sf w/ @joelrobinow & @phipps.pt featuring @joelstjulien (Matinee Show) 10/19 Arcata, CA @miniplex_events Richards’ Goat w/ @blea.ter 10/20 Eugene, OR at @eugenearthouse w/ @emiij Emily Kokal (Warpaint) 10/22 Portland, OR @turnturnturnpdx w/ @iilyasaahmed 10/23 Seattle, WA @blk.ldg.sea (Lodge Bar) w/ @oc_en.music & @st.yuma 10/25 Vancouver, BC @greenautomusic w/ @bigmalcolmjack @__clarasanchez__ More soon! In case you missed it, I recently posted my first “concert review” on The Slutlord Supplement - perhaps less of a review than an attempt to convey the sheer magic that was bearing witness to a @phipps.pt performance, the opening act ahead of @ffrith7’s first Vancouver gig in over twenty years. It is a rare joy to encounter sensuality and femininity in the world of experimental music and I am here for it, every time. The post previous is an interview with Welsh guitar legend @gweniferraymond. Inspiration abounds! 🔗Find & subscribe to my substack at link in bio 📸Photo by @ginabasso
