Not a very exciting bio, but this is me!

I’m Phoebe Chatham, currently living in beautiful South Florida, with my husband, our 2 teenagers, 2 dogs & 3 cats. I’ve been artistic all my life. An early childhood memory I have is the pride I felt when my Mom made a huge fuss over a clay horse head I made & saved it like it was a treasure. I had excellent art teachers in high school, I have taken a LOT of online courses since 2020 but have been self taught otherwise. I had a 14 year stretch where I did no art, but I was obsessed with gardening-especially when we lived in South Florida for 8 years. In 2014 I started art up again, small “traditional”watercolors & LOTS of pet portraits/commissions. Painting animal eyes I believe helped me capture a lot of emotion in human eyes, too. I love almost every medium I can get my hands on-it’s all SO FUN-but I could be happy with only a piece of charcoal & smudgestick. Art gives me peace, solitude & a sense of accomplishment. Just from my Instagram following (no website yet) I’ve sold works both internationally & here in the states as well. A recent work of mine has been chosen for book cover art by a 1st time novelist. I’ve briefly had works in a couple of galleries but I am so introverted I really prefer to go my own way. I’m in awe that so many people follow my page & I’m super thankful for all your compliments, it really motivates me to keep at it! by @phoebechatham

New one-having difficulty getting the colors to photograph correctly. But who doesn’t love turquoise, huh.

This one has sat for so long (with the intent of keeping going) but I will leave it as is, I’ve grown to like it very much. Charcoal & gesso on 9x12” blue toned paper.

New piece I just finished after rewatching a course from 2021 by @frank.forsman … he taught really fun methods of creating loosely with many layers (not sure the course is still available, you’d have to check with @southerngals_designs who hosted his course ). Mixed media on 9x12” paper…
