I thought I would pop in and say hello☺️ For those who don’t know me, my name is Nicola and I run the @picturebookbc 📖💕.

I work for a public library service and my passions include Children’s / YA literacy, programs and advocacy.

I can often be found with a picture book in one hand and a cuppa tea in the other, preferably out in the garden! 💕🪴🍃

This club was formed to celebrate the awesomeness of picture books. I also run a twitter chat each month based around a theme and featuring a special guest from the picture book world 🌎📖💕

I get so much joy from interacting with picture book authors, illustrators and enthusiasts ✨ and what a priveledge it is to turn the pages of so many wonderful creations 🙏🏻

Thank you for joining me to celebrate the wonderful world of picture books 🌎💕📖

There was a hole.
Everybody else walked around it.
But I fell in.

‘I Fell in a Hole’ is a joyful book about friendship, turtles and patience. Not a lot happens, and there is minimal text BUT it will put a smile on your dial.

I love the pops of vibrant purple and the way this book made me feel. The expression of the turtles will make you laugh - it is so clever how Claire has achieved this through her illustrations. Swipe left for a peek 👀

We have all fallen in a some sort of ‘hole’ once.. what was this experience for you and who helped you out of it? 💜

A funny, relatable tale of being in a pickle and being a little embarrassed about it!

LOVE

I love a lift the flap book! ‘Finding Mister Tibbles’ is absolutely gorgeous!

A young boy is missing his fury friend Mister Tibbles, especially his tickly whiskers and funny smell. He has looked EVERYWHERE for him. There is even a cash reward with a bonus half cookie 😉

He honked the horn at Number 2, rang the cowbell at Number 3, splashed towards Number 4 and bravely knocked on the drawbridge at Number 5 .. but no Mr Tibbles.

Will he be found?! Can you help?! Readers will delight in lifting the flaps for each of the houses down the street , meeting the interesting neighbours AND hunting for Mr Tibbles. The attention to detail is amazing and the pops of colour!

I also loved the sneaky twist at the end! A truly beautifully published book, from the feel of the paper to all the amazing details. I look forward to sharing it to my librarian colleagues! Swipe left for a peek at this delightful book.

One to be loved and shared with all ages.

When the animals say starfish can’t ride bikes, Starfish has news for them: it’s the bike that can’t be ridden.

Can they make the perfect bike, and will it be enough to get Starfish pedalling?

A bold and original take on accessibility with a twist you won’t see coming

Happy #sundayshelfie day! It is my pleasure to welcome @zannilouise and @susieoh.art .This week week we are celebrating Zanni and Susie’s gorgeous picture book ‘Sunny Gets to Work’.

Sunny’s home has always been chaotic, but recently it’s gotten OUT OF HAND!

When Mama tries to order pizza using the remote and Dad falls asleep in the baby’s bed, Sunny decides it’s time to step in. After all, even grown-ups need help sometimes.

But as Sunny takes over running the household, he learns that it’s A LOT HARDER than he thought.

Perfect for busy families, this heartwarming and humorous picture book shows that no matter how messy life gets, it’s okay to make mistakes, as long as you stick together
