A new limited edition zine by filmmaker Pierce Jackson celebrating 20 years of Performa biennial @performanyc with rare visuals from 2009-2015 featuring artists @msryanmcnamara @officialdavidhallberg @eddie_peake @wangechistudio @closest_relatives #francescovezzoli @imaniuzuri @mikarottenberg @davide_balula @kessler_studio #pawelalthamer @threeasfour and more.

Throughout the course of Performa’s history, Jackson documented more than 200 performances racing from venue to venue on a vintage single-speed bike.

Out of those several hundred documented performances, the pieces and projects featured in this zine were chosen because of their ability to transcend any specific genre and for the sublime and and transfixing moments they generated; Davide Balula for his almost meditative Endless Pace; a human enactment of the mechanics of a clock that touched on the methods of how an artist might document movement and reminded us of the early days of filmmaking. Eddie Peake’s Endymion’s totally immersive musical score and choreography. Wangechi Mutu’s dangerously important work Stone Ihiga for its devastating rumination on the precarious stature of women’s lives in Kenya. The residual images that the Tori Wranes performance seared into our minds. Ryan McNamara’s Ecks Ecks Ecks that focused its lens on the overlooked contributions of gay men throughout history and a club night he wished he could have had when he arrived in New York City.

As Performa celebrates two decades of redefining performance art, this issue offers an inside look at key moments from its formative years along with conversations with artists, giving readers a unique view of performances that push artistic boundaries.

Tuesday, October 13, DNB NYC RADIO welcomes Pierce Jackson live in studio.

Born and raised in New York City, Pierce has been DJing since 1997 and has been deeply connected to Jungle culture since his teenage years. He played his first Konkrete Jungle gig at just 17 and has remained committed to the sound ever since.

Known for his love of classic Jungle, chopped breaks, and the foundational sounds that helped define the genre, Pierce continues to represent the culture through DJ sets, events, and his own “In The Jungle” radio show on East Village Radio.

We’re looking forward to sitting down with him to talk about the history of Jungle in New York, his early days in the scene, how the sound has evolved, and why those original records still hit just as hard today.

Expect conversation, history, and serious Jungle selections.

@nigelthreetimes came through @eastvillageradio In the Jungle with an exclusive premiere of his remix of @cakesdakilla Cakes da Killa’s “New Bitch,” released on @jubileedj ‘s label Magic City @magiccity

He also delivered a serious set and talked about growing up in Queens, moving from hip-hop into DJing, and discovering jungle through GTA III and early music sharing apps.
