🏺 NOVEMBER MEETING 🏺

Drinking together has been a tradition for thousands of years. Join Pink Boots Philadelphia for an unconventional (and boozy) journey back in time to discover what people of the past thought about alcohol — from how they made it to its role in society 🍺

📍 Penn Museum of Archeology & Anthropology
3260 South St, Philadelphia
🗓️ Saturday, 11/07
⏰ 10:45AM-12:45PM

We’ll start with a private tour of ancient alcohol relics guided by archaeologist — including early drinking vessels that reveal secrets of ancient Greek drinking games, and the beverage served at a feast hosted by King Midas 👑

We’ll finish with a guided tasting of a beer inspired by an ancient recipe, then a reading from the ancient alcohol chapter of A Woman’s Place Is in the Brewhouse — read by the author herself, our very own Chapter Member Tara Nurin! 📖

Want to keep the day going? Join us for lunch at Carbon Copy brewery/winery with owner Kyle Wolak.

Not a member? Come anyway — history, hops, and good company await!

Attention Pink boots members from Williamsport, Philly and Pittsburgh ‼️

We are so excited to announce that the Williamsport Pink Boots Chapter, in collaboration with the Philadelphia and Pittsburgh Chapters, has been selected as one of only 10 chapters in the world to participate in selecting this year’s Pink Boots hop blend in celebration of the 10th anniversary of Pink Boots Society x Yakima Chief Hops collaboration for the yearly hop blend!!!

This is such a cool opportunity, and we want you to be apart of it!!

Info about the event:

The event will take place Wednesday October 14th @newtrailbrewing in Williamsport PA 11am-1pm for members only. You MUST sign up for this event to participate, we are limiting the actual hop selection portion that will be sent to Yakima to 50 people so we can get accurate and consistent sensory information about the hops. (Breakfast and lunch to be provided to members by Williamsport Chapter)

Can’t make the selection portion? No worries!

The event will be open to the fermented beverage industry and Pink Boots members/supporters from 2:00–5:00 PM. So even if you are not able to participate in the selection itself, you can still come experience the hops, attend educational sessions, connect with fellow industry professionals, and enjoy local vendors and live music!

The first portion of the event is open to all 3 participating chapters members who have registered: Williamsport, Philly, Pittsburgh( 11am-1pm). The second session of the event is open to industry professionals, members, and supporters (2pm-5pm).

We also have hotel blocks for anyone traveling to the event (upon request).

This is such a unique opportunity to come together with Pink Boots members from across Pennsylvania, participate in a super cool hop selection, and celebrate 10 years of the Pink Boots x Yakima Chief Hops collaboration!

Spots are limited to the selection portion so please make sure you sign up!!

Host Richie Tevlin and Co-Host Evan Blum talk with Jacky Rice, brewer at Sly Fox Brewing Company and Collaboration Brew Day Liaison for the Pink Boots Society’s Philadelphia chapter. She has done quality assurance at Sam Adams and brewed at Pagoda City, and now runs Sly Fox’s automated 42-barrel brewhouse, where she created a Pink Boots collaboration Kellerbier from a scholarship trip to Germany.

The first time I read A Room of One’s Own by Virginia Woolf, her concept of having a space to be yourself really resonated with me. When thinking of where to host this meeting, @triplebottombrewing was top of mind for all the work that is done here to create more spaces for more people to be themselves in Philly 🍻

This was a truly special evening and thank you to everyone who was a part of it 🙏

TPPD Meeting 27: Creating Spaces - In Brewing, Philosophy, & Philly! 🍻

While all our Meetings can’t be ticketed (as that defeats the purpose of TPPD), they do have an intimate charm about them ✨

Last night we paired our discussion of A Room of One’s Own by Virginia Woolf at @triplebottombrewing (TBB) with three very special guests: Lorin (the GM of TBB), Deja (the leader of @collab.philly ), and @taranurin (author of "A Woman’s Place Is in the Brewhouse"), who all shared their journeys as they related to the theme of creating spaces for themselves and others 🙏

Lorin and Tara are also members of @pinkbootsphilly which works to advocate for and support women in brewing 👢

Between the lived experiences and the worldly knowledge shared, this was definitely one of our richer discussions - somehow two hours just wasn’t long enough! 😮

A huge thank you to everyone for coming out and opening up! 🤗
