From in-person Hop Rubs to virtual gatherings and events around the globe, the Pink Boots Society × Yakima Chief Hops Hop Blend has been bringing our community together for a decade!

The hops may change, but the heart of it stays the same — sharing knowledge, making connections, and raising each other up.

And the impact goes beyond the blend! This partnership helps support scholarships, education, and opportunities for women and nonbinary professionals across the fermented and alcoholic beverage industry.

This year, we're celebrating with 13 Hop Rubs around the world, bringing different perspectives (and plenty of noses!) together to help shape the 2027 blend.

Cheers to Yakima Chief Hops, our chapters, and every member who's been part of the journey!

We came, we sniffed, we conquered!

Thank you so much to everyone who came out to @indianladderfarmsciderybrewery to participate in the 10th annual @yakimachief Hop Rub event!

It was so wonderful seeing members of the NY chapters come together to help choose the Pink Boots hop blend this year!

The observations on the hop varieties were intuitive and so interesting to see how different each was. Cashmere, Willamette, and Talus were a few of the favorites, with grassy, floral, candy, and melon notes observed by some.

Ever wondered what actually happens at a Pink Boots Hop Rub?

It's part sensory experience, part collaboration, and a whole lot of putting our noses to work.

During Hop Rub Week, Pink Boots Society members around the world are getting hands-on with hops — releasing aromas, identifying characteristics, comparing notes, and sharing their perspectives to help shape the 2027 Pink Boots Hop Blend with our partners at Yakima Chief Hops.

And here's one of our favorite parts: you don't have to be a hop expert to bring something valuable to the table. Different backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives make the process that much more interesting.

It's about learning from one another, making connections, and having a voice in creating something together.

Today, we raise a glass to history — and to the people continuing to shape what comes next.

October 10 is National Black Brewers Day, a day dedicated to recognizing the history, contributions, and impact of Black brewers, brewery owners, and brewing professionals across the United States.

The date marks an important moment in brewing history. On October 10, 1970, Theodore A. “Ted” Mack, Sr. and his business group celebrated their acquisition of Peoples Brewing Company in Oshkosh, Wisconsin — making Mack the first Black brewery president in the United States and Peoples the first Black-owned brewery in U.S. history.

More than 50 years later, Black brewers and beverage professionals continue to build businesses, create community, share knowledge, mentor the next generation, and move our industry forward.

Today we celebrate that history, the people doing the work today, and those building what comes next.

Grab your boots — we’re going global.

From October 10–16, Pink Boots Society members will gather for 13 Hop Rubs around the world, putting their noses (and opinions) to work to help shape the 2027 Pink Boots Society Hop Blend with our partners at Yakima Chief Hops.

Members will rub, smell, compare, discuss, and share their feedback — bringing different palates and perspectives together to create something that represents our community.

And this year, there’s even more to celebrate: 2026 marks 10 years of the Pink Boots Society × Yakima Chief Hops Hop Blend.

We’ll be following along all week with photos, behind-the-scenes moments, and plenty of hops from participating chapters around the globe.

This year’s Craft Beer Sensorik Seminar scholarship recipients spent an immersive week in Germany training at the Technical University of Munich — from sensory science and earning their TUM Sensorik Certificates to exploring Bavaria’s hops, malt, brewing research, and beer culture.

For Hispanic Heritage Month, we asked Pink Boots members what they would say to someone from the Hispanic/Latina community considering a career in the beverage industry.

Their answers were different, but the message was pretty clear:
There’s room for you here.
Keep learning.
Build your community.
Bring your perspective with you.
And when an opportunity comes along, don’t be afraid to go for it.

We’ll keep working to make sure more people can.
