Expanding the work of @pintgiving in Brighton 🧡 Helping the homeless with the day-to-day things and a friendly face. Let’s make it a community effort🖤

POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

This morning we received an exciting parcel from @calzy.vision full of essentials for us to hand out on our outreaches 😊❤️ Calzy Vision (also @calzy.foundation) are run by the wonderful family of Cal Stuart, who we sadly lost at the beginning of this year to suicide. Cal was, and still is, a truly amazing soul who was very passionate about helping the homeless and making them feel like they were cared about, like they were a part of society, like a human. His passion is still burning and it’s safe to say that without him, Pint Brighton would not exist 🧡🖤 so thank you to them for the ongoing support! Please follow them to support and keep your eyes peeled for what they have coming up in the future.

Also we’d just like to explain a bit about what we are doing at the moment with Pint. We are aiming to go out once/twice a week at varying times of day, to try to establish the best routes/areas around Brighton where we can help the most people. That way when we eventually invite volunteers out with us, we will be able to efficiently help as many people as possible on more days of the week 😊 We are hoping in the next month or so to get volunteers out but until then we encourage you, next time you see a homeless person, to just take a minute to chat to them, or even just give them a smile, maybe buy them some food if they’re hungry and you can afford to. No one is expecting you to empty your wallet for them, especially as lots of people have money worries of their own at the moment. But what we want to help demonstrate through our work with Pint, is that helping the homeless doesn’t require us to break the bank, just a little time and effort. And just think what it would be like if everyone gave just a little bit of their time and effort... 🧡🖤

Last night’s outreach! ✨🌟 We cooked up a huge pot of pasta & a super nutritious sauce to hand out around town along with some snacks, socks and some friendly faces. This week we trialled out our new trolley, donated to us by the amazing @calzy.vision (thank you so much!!💖), which worked an absolute treat (and saved us some arm ache!). We handed out all of the food and had some really good chats. One guy said to us: “It’s such a shame that it’s not more of a community thing because most people walk past you and don’t even notice you” 😢. So bare that in mind! Even if you’re not going to give money or some food, a lot of homeless people also just want to be noticed, smiled at, asked how they are- treated like a real human! And this is where our work comes in. Over the next few months/years, we want to turn pint into a community-based project where we essentially all work together in Brighton (and nationally!) to do what we can for those living on the streets. The Government don’t do anything about it so it’s about time we took matters into our own hands as a City/Country and pulled together to create a better life for those who spend most of their time on the streets. More on that, as well as ways you guys can get involved, coming real soon! 🧡🖤 until then please continue to share and support us in whatever way you can ☺️🧡 taken in Brighton and Hove by @pintbrighton

Today is Thursday which means it’s outreach day for us, and we have a delicious homemade vegetable curry on the menu. At the moment, we are just going out one evening a week delivering hot food, snacks and other essentials to people out on the streets, along with lots of smiles and chats. Over the next few months & years, we plan to extend this to going out every day and providing more, but for now, it’s amazing to see how much a bit of food, some smiles and a chat can do for someone who spends most of the day being ignored by people. These are some of the most vulnerable people in our society, and we all need to do more to reduce the damaging stigma around homelessness and treat these people like the humans they are 🧡🖤 It starts with the little things that we can all do. And soon we will be inviting some of you guys out to volunteer with us and spread some love to those who need it most ❤️ be grateful for what you have 🧡🖤 #brighton #brightonandhove #homelessness #helpyourcommunity #charity #outreach taken in Brighton and Hove by @pintbrighton

Excited to say that this evening we did our first outreach in Brighton! We cooked up a huge batch of lentil dahl, got some socks, snacks and toiletries, and headed out to see who we’d have the pleasure of meeting.
We managed to hand out around 15 meals as well as lots of snacks, socks and toiletries. Also had some super interesting conversations with some really wonderful people, lots of laughing involved! Sometimes it seems like society forget that homeless people are real people too. People with hearts and stories to tell. It was a really positive start to our journey in Brighton and we hope that some of you guys will come out with us soon! (Keep your eyes on our insta for more on that) ❤️ Some special thank yous to @the_little_loaf for some wonderful pastries (that went down a treat!), @smorls for the tupperwares & @korpan_official for the cutlery & @calzy.vision for the super warm, comfy hoodie 🧡🖤 it’s wonderful what we can do when we come together as a community 🧡 #brighton #brightonbeach #helpthehomeless #homelessbrighton #endhomelessness taken in Brighton by @pintbrighton

We are hoping to start this new adventure properly in September, but for now we are reaching out to anyone who may be able to help us, whether that be weekly, monthly or yearly.
~In London, the food that Pint gives out is donated by local restaurants/cafes/hotels/shops, etc. We are hoping to do the same in Brighton over time, so if you or anyone you know could help, please get in touch!
~We can only make big changes if we work together ❤️ ~#endhomelessness #helpthoseinneed

Although Pint Brighton has not officially been launched yet, this week we had an AMAZING bunch of young people from the @ncs @concordiavolunteers programme in Brighton who raised over £1000 (through a 6-hour sponsored danceathon & ping pong competition) and handed out 30 bags full of essentials for people living on the streets of Brighton. Any excess money that wasn’t spent on the bags is going towards helping Pint Brighton start up over the next few months, which is really helpful for us and will allow us to help more people sooner.
~After such a tough year, it’s truly inspiring to see this group of young people care so much about their local community, especially those who are less fortunate than themselves. We at Pint cannot wait to get more Brightonians involved in making the daily lives of homeless people better by providing them with the essentials they so often go without. 💘

A huge congratulations to this amazing group of young people who, despite only having 6 days to come up with and deliver a project, have raised the funds needed to kickstart this amazing project. We are incredibly grateful for your efforts and hope to have some of you join us on our future outreach projects in Brighton! 💘 taken in Brighton by @pintbrighton
