Makes me smile
to drive with a sculpture seat belted into the passenger seat - She’s tall, had to recline the seat for head space.
.
Delivery went smoothly and the sculpture looks fabulous in the space it was created specially for. Home!
.
Love the leveling feet! tipped the wood and screwed foot out a turn or two … perfect!

Busy in all directions at studio now though the morning was simple beauty out in the hills.
.
We started glaze reduction load yesterday and held off for two orders in the bisq. Got order out hot while enjoying coffee, glazed and now to finish up and pilot kiln.

When making series with different sizes, I usually make an abundance of small, choose my favourite details and explore these in the larger sizes. Making an effort to keep the spontaneous feeling that happens more easily when working small, quickly with repetition.
.
With these jugs, I started with a medium sample. Went a size larger, then after those were in the kiln, and a client wanted two, moved on to this very large ( probably my largest jugs ever ) and some small, because they’re cute ! 🥰
.
I enjoyed the slower speed required for the largest ones and the invitation to pay attention to detail in a different way. Particularly the finesse of the rim shape, squaring where the handle connects.

Pushing, pulling, and altering classic thrown forms into sculptural vessels. Each piece explores continuous motion, subtle curves, and the balance between geometry and organic movement.

These forms are a moment paused in time.
In this new series, I’m exploring ‘stretched’ forms. Starting on the wheel with simple cylinders, add texture that mimics the natural rhythm of bamboo, then alter each piece by pressing in two sides, pulling the walls upward with a slight twist, building exterior textures.
.
Every layer added is a conversation between past and future iterations—a continuous evolution driven by addition and intention.
.
These greenware vases are still early in their journey, but each holds a distinct personality. I look forward to transformation by fire.
.
Mark your calendars!

Soft porcelain, catching the collapse. Capturing the bowls with their soft organic thrown transition and juxtaposing that loose thrown altered forms to their crisp stone like, torn angular feet.

Final vision is smooth silky thrown bowl forms with dry rough carved unglazed feet.

Bowls nest “nicely”😊. 8 to 16” diameter unfired. Made from 3,6,9 and 12 lbs of clay.

My recycled clay is cut to 6lbs coming out of the pug mill… I was thinking about a low, open and altered bowl with a lot of movement. Soft round, slow throwing line through center.

If I had considered the nesting concept before making, would not have simply used sodas wirh no weighing and and aproximate increased o 3# increments. Closer to % increase in clay for optimal nesting i expect. T

Your thoughts? Next time I’ll try 3, 5.4, 10,18 pounds of clay. taken in Pinto Pottery, Good Hope, Trelawny, Jamaica by @pintopottery
