The latest custom build from Giovanni Mariani from @gm.motorcycles is a 55hp, two-stroke Kawasaki KX250 wrapped in an almost alien-like, hand-formed aluminium monocoque. It was built on one side of the world for a motorcycle waiting on the other. And after eight years sitting dormant in Milan, this 1999 KX250 hasn’t returned to spend its life on a show stand. Giovanni built it for @wheels_and_waves, and then raced the living hell out of it. 📸 @de_ranieri_simone

There are custom workshops that modify motorcycles, and then there are those prepared to completely rethink what a motorcycle can look like. @treasuregarage belongs firmly in the latter camp. The Indonesian outfit operates under the wonderfully simple mantra “No Boring Bikes”, and they appear determined to live by it. Their latest creation starts with an MV Agusta Brutale and transforms it into something that looks like it escaped from the set of a futuristic sci-fi movie.

When this BMW R100 arrived at @boltmotorcompany, it wasn’t a motorcycle at all; it was a collection of parts stuffed inside a wooden crate. Before Bolt could even begin modifying it, the team had to assemble the thing simply to identify what was there, what was missing and what condition everything was in. Then they pulled it apart and started again. Hence BOLT ≠ 100, a BMW quite literally built twice, and one whose name makes the point rather neatly: it might have started life as an R100, but a conventional restoration was never on the cards.

Meet ‘Post-Haste’, a 1989 Honda CT110 transformed by fabricator Tim Urquhart (@turq_57) into a hand-shaped aluminium, Art Deco-inspired streamliner. It looks like something a pre-war aircraft engineer might have designed after being handed a Postie bike and several stiff drinks. This retired CT110 has certainly been reassigned to a very different kind of delivery.

Darth Vader famously preferred a TIE fighter for aerial duties, but had Kawasaki built the ZRX1200 in a galaxy far, far away, the big green bruiser would have made a pretty convincing option as his ground-based attack vehicle. French builder @jerem_motorcycles has taken Kawasaki’s unapologetically old-school muscle bike, stripped it to its last nut and bearing, and rebuilt it as something considerably darker.

The 1983 BMW K100 was never a bike Tom from @purpose_built_moto has been a huge fan of. After three years of asking, his friend Ryan finally convinced him to bring his K series back to life. What started as a partially stripped and poorly stored K100 quickly turned into a full ground-up rebuild, with a refreshed engine, modern suspension and brakes, custom 17” wheels, and a completely reworked tank and tail.

The three brothers behind @classicbike_raisch have spent plenty of time riding supermotos on racetracks, and when BMW released the new R 12 G/S, they saw something rather different from the retro enduro everyone else was looking at. Rather than add kilos and build another average adventure bike, they got trim and technical, turning the big boxer into a proper Supermoto.
