What a day at Stanislaus State! ❤️💛 From our PIQE workshop for families to conversations at our booth, Warrior Expo featuring Feria de Educación has been full of connection, learning and fun.

Families have been enjoying live music, food trucks and games while exploring resources to help incoming students prepare for college. We’re grateful to every family who stopped by, asked questions and shared their hopes for their students’ futures.

What a wonderful day at Stanislaus State! 🎓 PIQE was proud to be part of Warrior Expo featuring Feria de Educación, bringing families together to explore college pathways, connect with resources and envision what’s possible for their students.

A special shoutout to our President and CEO Reyna Hernandez, Executive Director Gabriela Rios, Stanislaus State President Dr. Britt Rios-Ellis, PIQE Board Chair and Stanislaus State Vice President for Business & Finance and Chief Financial Officer Rose Elena McAuliffe, and our TelevisaUnivision partners Jesús Chavez and Roxana Calderon!

📣 Reclassification marks an important milestone in a student's educational journey, recognizing when they have achieved English proficiency. However, inconsistent criteria and processes can affect when students reach this milestone and the support they receive along the way.

AB 2555 aims to establish a more consistent and transparent reclassification process across California by strengthening criteria, engaging parents as partners in language development, and monitoring students' progress after reclassification.

The law also provides a pathway for English learners with disabilities and promotes greater transparency through annual reporting.

When schools, families, and policymakers work together, we can create more equitable opportunities for English learners to thrive and continue their journey toward biliteracy.

La respuesta puede ser diferente según lo que esté viviendo en ese momento.

Tal vez sea un maestro que nota que algo no anda bien. Un orientador que lo ayuda a enfrentar un desafío. Un administrador que interviene para resolver una situación. O un socio comunitario que conecta a su familia con un recurso.

Detrás de cada estudiante hay una red de personas que pueden ayudarlo a seguir adelante.

Las familias también forman parte de esa red. Saber con quién acercarse puede hacer una gran diferencia.

The answer might be different depending on what they need that day.

Maybe it’s a teacher who notices they’re struggling. A counselor who helps them work through a challenge. An administrator who helps address a concern. A community partner who connects their family to a resource.

Behind every student is a network of people who can help them move forward.

Families are part of that network, too. Knowing who to reach out to can make all the difference.

Bring the family for a day of college exploration, helpful resources, live performances, and fun activities. Families can also get guidance on college admissions, financial aid, and planning for the next step in their student’s education, with resources available in English and Spanish.

La independencia no se desarrolla de un día para otro. Se aprende con la práctica.

Tener rutinas claras ayuda a los estudiantes a saber qué esperar y asumir sus responsabilidades. Darles opciones les permite tomar decisiones. Reflexionar sobre sus experiencias les ayuda a aprender de ellas, y resolver problemas les da la confianza para intentarlo de nuevo cuando algo no sale como esperaban.

Son oportunidades que ocurren todos los días en el salón de clases y que pueden ayudar a los estudiantes a desarrollar habilidades que llevarán consigo mucho más allá de la escuela.

Independence doesn’t happen overnight. It grows through practice.

A predictable classroom routine gives students a starting point. Having choices gives them opportunities to take ownership. Reflection helps them learn from their experiences, while problem-solving gives them the confidence to try again when something doesn’t go as planned.

These everyday classroom moments can help students build skills they’ll carry with them far beyond school.
