POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED
Spent the morning with @teachpluscalifornia, @piqeusa, and @caltog at a listening session for the Central Valley Multilingual Learner Consortium. We had the opportunity to share our experiences educating Multilingual Learners, but the most impactful part of the day was hearing stories directly from the students themselves. Listening to their lived experiences is a powerful reminder of why this advocacy work is so crucial, and it’s a commitment I don’t take lightly. There are so many dedicated leaders and organizations pushing the work of multilingualism forward in California, and I am deeply proud to be part of this mission. Thank you so much for having me. #TeachPlusCA #CATOY2026 #CaliforniansTogether #ElementaryEducation #advocacymatters

A new chapter for California’s English learners – and new resources to help families navigate it. 📚 Governor Newsom has signed AB 2555 from Assemblymember Darshana Patel, Ph.D., creating a clearer, more consistent process for students to reclassify as English proficient. Thank you to Californians Together and the California Association for Bilingual Education - CABE for championing this legislation and leading the statewide coalition that helped move it forward. These changes build on years of advocacy by families, educators, and English learner champions. GO Public Schools is proud to have been part of this effort alongside Innovate, PIQE, the Parent Organization Network, CTA, CFT, and fellow coalition partners. Under the new law, students will qualify for reclassification based solely on a qualifying English language proficiency assessment score: Level 4 on the ELPAC or Level 3 on the Alternate ELPAC. This includes students who earned qualifying scores during the 2025–26 school year. GO created a bilingual resource to help families, advocates, and school leaders understand what's changing, what steps they can take now, and what's coming next. 📘: English: https://bit.ly/GOAB2555 📗: Spanish: https://bit.ly/AB2555Explicado Help us get these resources into the hands of families and those who support them. Share with your schools, colleagues, and community partners! #EnglishLearners #MultilingualLearners #EducationEquity #AB2555 #Reclassification #ELPAC

We’re inspired by partners across the Valley co-hosting the first Valley-based Getting Down to Facts III Briefing. It’s powerful to see the collaboration between the Central Valley Multilingual Consortium, the Parent Institute for Quality Education (PIQE), Californians Together, UC Merced’s EL-WIN Program, Policy Analysis for California Education (PACE), and Stanford University’s SCALE Initiative.   Centered on the latest research on California’s education system, the event made space for educators, school board members, families, researchers, policymakers, and community leaders to explore findings and share insights. One big takeaway: The Central Valley is poised and ready to shape the future of education, especially for the Valley’s multilingual learners.  Check out the ground breaking research at: https://scale.stanford.edu/
