Only 3 things actually decide whether you break into High Finance.

I got most of my technical questions wrong & still converted a ₹50LPA+ offer.

Here’s what actually mattered:

1. YOUR CV IS THE INTERVIEW BEFORE THE INTERVIEW.

You may be the smartest person in the room. The problem? The recruiter never meets you first.

They meet your CV.

Most people make one in a few hours, use an AI template, send it everywhere and then wonder why nobody responds.

Making a CV ≠ crafting one.

Crafting means understanding exactly what the recruiter wants and selling your entire story on one page.

During my MBA, we spent 15–18 days on a CV with guidance from people already working in the roles we wanted.

2. STOP ASKING FOR REFERRALS. GIVE THEM A REASON TO REFER YOU.

Most messages I receive are some version of: “Hi sir, please refer me.”

That’s exactly why they get ignored.

I had no banker uncle and no established finance network. My opportunities across VC, IB and PE came through cold outreach.

Networking is a two-way street. Who you contact, when you contact them, what you offer and how you ask changes everything.

3. THE INTERVIEW IS A SALES ROOM, NOT AN EXAM HALL.

I got 5 of 7 technical questions wrong. I still got the offer.

These are client-facing roles. Technicals matter - but so do your story, communication, attitude and ability to handle pressure.

Everyone prepares finance. Very few prepare themselves.

🗓️On 11th October 2026. Sunday. 11 AM -

I’m breaking down the exact CV shortlisting strategy, outreach framework, referral playbook, interview approach, hidden hiring channels and live projects that actually matter in my EXCLUSIVE INSIDER SESSION - only for my followers.

Not CFA. Not financial modelling. Not another valuation course.

Let me tell you what actually makes me stop on a CV in 2026, as someone who reviews them every week from the hiring side.

Read Full Caption!!

A CFA tells me you’re disciplined. But half the pile has one. It gets you read. It doesn’t get you picked.

Financial modelling? Assumed. Nobody’s impressed you can link three statements - that’s the entry ticket. And the uncomfortable truth: the mechanical half of modelling is exactly what AI now does in minutes.

Here’s what’s changed, and fast.

If you want IB, PE, VC, equity research or wealth management at a top firm - being able to make AI do real finance work is no longer a bonus. It’s becoming the baseline.

And it’s now one of the first things that comes up in interviews.

Not “do you use ChatGPT.” I mean:

→ Can you hand AI filings and transcripts and get back a banker-grade research report?
→ Can you build a driver-based model - revenue as units × price, not one guessed growth rate?
→ Can you write guardrails so it flags a missing number instead of inventing one?
→ Can you build skills, bots and agents that run without you?

If you can’t answer these when asked, the interview is effectively over. Because from our side of the table it signals one thing: you’ve been watching this shift happen and you did nothing about it.

And here’s what stings - almost everyone thinks they’re already an AI expert. From where I sit, most aren’t 1% of the way to what the actual job demands.

So let me say the quiet part loudly:

AI won’t replace your job. Someone who uses AI better than you will.

That’s not a prediction. It’s already happening in hiring rooms.

🚀 Comment any word on this reel and I’ll send you my *AI × Finance Workshop* - the first time an actual front-end banker shows you how this is really used at work. The industry hasn’t stopped talking about it. Don’t be the one who watched and did nothing.

Coaching institutes are scamming you by selling financial modelling courses & promising you it’ll land you an IB job.

Here’s the truth: financial modelling is barely 5% of what we actually do.

The other 95%? They can’t teach it, because they’ve never been on this side of the table. I have.

So let me explain you the 6 documents we actually build on a live deal in the order they happen:

1. Pitch Deck - when a company wants to raise money, it doesn’t just pick one bank. Several banks compete and pitch for the deal - we literally call it a “beauty parade.” The pitch deck is how we show the company we understand their business best and are the right bank to handle their raise.

2. Teaser - once we win the mandate for a private company fundraise, we send investors a short, no-name document that tests early interest in the deal. Just enough to make them lean in, without revealing who the company is.

3. Information Memorandum (IM) - after an interested investor signs an NDA, we send this: a 70–80 page deep-dive on the company. Customers, risks, growth plans, projections - everything they need to make a decision.

4. Financial Model - the famous 5%. Current financials, future projections, how’s the next 5 years of the business look like: revenue, costs, & exactly how the money raised will be used.

5. Comp Sheet - how we figure out what the company is worth, by comparing it against similar listed companies. The number behind the headline.

6. Roadshow Presentation - before an IPO goes public, this is how we pitch the company to the big investors and gauge how much demand is really out there.

1. Steal the ₹50-lakh research report. For FREE.

Here’s the truth - every high finance interview boils down to how well you know atleast ONE particular industry. So this is where you start- Pick one industry. Find a recent LARGE IPO in it (not some small SME). Open that company’s DRHP and go straight to the “Industry Overview” section.

Here’s the secret - this is the most valuable piece of research available for free. Investment bankers spent MONTHS preparing it: market size, growth drivers, regulations, the entire competitive landscape - the kind of report firms pay lakhs for. Read it, and suddenly you understand this industry better than 90% of people chasing the same job.

2. Stop sounding like a student. Start sounding like an analyst.

Now pick one top company in that industry that genuinely excites you. Read its latest annual report and investor presentation. This is where you learn the exact metrics the industry is judged on - in hospitals it’s ARPOB, revenue per patient, bed occupancy, average length of stay. Compare your company against its peers on these, and you’ll know exactly how the whole industry is ranked.

3. See the future before the interviewer does.

This is where you become dangerous. Go to Screener (completely free) & read the concalls of the top 5–6 players. After every result, management gets on a call and the sharpest analysts in the country grill them. The DRHP told you the industry’s past. The concalls tell you what’s happening RIGHT NOW and where it’s heading.

Do these 3 steps & honestly, not even the person interviewing you, who’s been in the industry 10 years, can beat you.

Because in high finance (IB, PE, VC) it all comes down to one thing: mastering ONE industry like nobody else. Do it fast, and the door opens.

1. Black–Scholes (1973)
A closed-form model to price options using volatility, time, and interest rates.
This single framework unlocked the modern derivatives market and still powers trillions in trading today.

2. Market Efficiency - Eugene Fama (1970)
Markets reflect all available information, making consistent outperformance extremely difficult.
This shaped passive investing and the rise of index funds.

3. Modern Portfolio Theory - Harry Markowitz (1952)
Return isn’t everything, risk matters.
Diversification across uncorrelated assets can optimize returns for a given level of risk.

4. CAPM - William Sharpe
Expected returns are driven by systematic risk (beta), not individual asset noise.
A foundational model for pricing assets and calculating cost of capital.

5. Arbitrage Pricing Theory - Stephen Ross (1976)
Returns are influenced by multiple macro factors, not just market risk.
This expanded finance into multi-factor investing strategies.

6. Agency Theory - Jensen & Meckling (1976)
Managers and shareholders don’t always have aligned incentives.
This explains inefficiencies in corporate decision-making and executive compensation.

7. Limits to Arbitrage - Shleifer & Vishny (1997)
Markets don’t always correct themselves.
Even rational traders face constraints, allowing mispricings to persist, especially during crises.

⸻

Most people consume finance at the surface.
Very few understand what it’s built on.

That gap is everything.

1. Wrote Short Post-Mortems
After every earnings call or major event for stocks I was tracking, I wrote 5-6 lines on what I misunderstood or got wrong and why. This helped me identify gaps quickly and improve much faster than just consuming more content.

2. Used Macroeconomics to Explain Numbers
Interest rates, inflation, and liquidity were always linked back to financial statements.
If a macro variable couldn’t explain a change in revenue, costs, or cash flow, it wasn’t useful.

3. Read Finance News Daily (With a Filter)
Every news item was mapped to earnings impact, balance sheet stress, or valuation change - not consumed passively.

4. Studied Fewer Companies, Repeatedly
I followed a small set of companies quarter after quarter to understand how guidance, execution, and assumptions actually played out.

5. Read Annual Reports for Decisions, Not Stories I focused on capital allocation, acquisitions, debt, and capex - then checked whether outcomes matched intent.

6. Built Simple Models to Stress Assumptions
Models were tools to test drivers.
If changing one assumption didn’t meaningfully change outcomes, the thinking was wrong.

7. Rebuilt Financial Statements From Scratch
I took real companies and reconstructed their P&L, Balance Sheet, and Cash Flow to see how one decision flows across all three.

Save this for later.

“Claude AI will replace financial analysts!”

Bullshit.

Everyone’s panicking. I’m not. And after using Claude daily as an investment banker, here’s the truth nobody’s telling you.

AI isn’t replacing analysts. It’s replacing laziness.

Yes, Claude can now:
→ Analyze financials in seconds
→ Build DCF models with zero errors
→ Run sensitivity analyses instantly
→ Draft investment memos
→ Research 50 companies overnight

What took 10 hours now takes 10 minutes. I’ve seen it firsthand — it replaced 60% of what my analysts were doing.

But here’s what the doomsayers miss:
It replaced the TASKS. Not the PEOPLE who know how to think.

The analysts thriving right now are those using using Claude as a weapon — not hiding from it. They’re doing in 10 minutes what used to take all day, then spending the rest of their time doing what AI genuinely cannot:

→ Navigating client relationships
→ Executing deals under pressure
→ Making judgment calls with incomplete data
→ Telling stories that move people to act
→ Reading the room in a boardroom

The interview question that separates them: “How would you use AI to make yourself 10x more productive?”

Most can’t answer it. Can you?

Comment “AI” and I’ll send you exactly how to use Claude for finance, what skills are actually protected, and how to position yourself as the person who top firms are desperately looking for right now.

Don’t fear AI. Master it before it masters your career.

I wish someone told me these 5 skills matter more than your GPA for breaking into High Finance!

1. FINANCIAL MODELING

This is non-negotiable for IB/PE interviews.

Start with simple DCFs and LBOs, then move to full 3-statement models. You don’t need to be perfect in college - but having tried it gives you a massive head start during internships.

While others are learning from scratch, you’ll already know the basics.

—————
2. MARKET KNOWLEDGE

Start reading financial and economic news daily. I swear this gives you an EDGE in interviews.

When interviewers ask “What’s happening in markets?” - most candidates freeze. You won’t.

Read Finshots, Economic Times, or Financial Express for at least 60 mins daily. This habit alone will make you stand out.

————-

3. NETWORKING

Here’s the reality: Most hiring decisions in high finance are made “backdoor.”

I can tell you from my IB experience - grabbing coffees with MDs, reaching out on LinkedIn, asking smart questions from the right people - this takes you further than any classroom lecture.

Networking early shows curiosity and helps you build a reputation before placements even start.

————-

4. EXCEL & POWERPOINT

90% of your work as an analyst or associate is done on Excel and PowerPoint.

Master shortcuts, formatting, and presentation design. In high finance, speed is everything. If you’re fast and clean with these tools, you’ll shine in internships and jobs.

This is the “boring” skill nobody talks about - but it’s what gets you promoted.

______

5. CODING (Python & SQL Basics)

You don’t need to be a software engineer. But knowing Python and SQL basics gives you an edge.

Basic automation, data analysis, understanding code - these skills are becoming standard in finance. Learn the fundamentals and you’ll be ahead of 80% of candidates.

______

Build these 5 skills NOW and you’ll walk into interviews 10 steps ahead of your competition.

Drop “Finance” in the comments and I’ll send you my personal guide with the exact resources I used to build these skills before landing IB interviews 📩
